Has anyone ever seen a triple steal before? Anyone at all?

If you weren’t following college baseball this weekend then you really missed out on some truly spectacular plays. First we had Lower Columbia College left fielder Derrick Salberg and his astounding catch of a game-tying home run, and now it seems as if Vanderbilt has gone and trumped Salberg’s play-of-the-week with one of their own—the incredibly rare triple steal.

Vandy pulled off the extremely difficult feat against Florida in today’s action at the SEC tournament. The Commodores scored five runs in the top of the ninth to topple the Gators 8-6, one of which came on Anthony Gomez’s steal of home. Vanderbilt had six stolen bases in the inning which tied an SEC tournament record. They will face Mississippi State in the championship game tomorrow at 2:30 p.m EST. with the game to be broadcast on ESPN2. I highly recommend you get to a television and watch it, because after what we’ve seen this weekend in college baseball, there’s no telling what might happen.

But seeing that we’ve witnessed an insane catch of a game-tying homer and a rarely seen (if ever) triple steal, what sort of ridiculous play could there be left to see?
