Courtesy of SI.com’s Hot Clicks, here is quick thinking from Oregon pitcher Jeff Gold after making a great stab at a hard comebacker up the middle. The ball gets stuck in teh webbing of his glove does the only thing he could to make the out at first. And yes, we are way ahead of you. Orlando ‘El Duque’ Hernandez pulled off the same feat in the Subway Series against the Mets back in 1999. Your browser does not support iframes. Also against the Mets, a young Terry Mullholland threw his entire glove to first to get Keith Hernandez out. I’d say the play by the Oregon first baseman was much more impressive since the ball came out of the glove in midair.
