2014 shooting guard Devin Booker has received a formal offer from the University of Kentucky. Head coach John Calipari met with Booker face-to-face yesterday at Booker’s high school gym in Moss Point, Mississippi. The news was first broken by the USA Today. Shortly after, Devin Booker took to his Twitter page to announce his new offer:
Booker’s offer is the first extended from the Kentucky staff during the spring/summer signing period. As it stands, Wednesday was the last day of the NCAA’s recruiting period. Head coaches will not be allowed to attend anymore sanctioned events involving recruits until May. Booker may receive the only offer from Kentucky this spring. The offer for Booker is somewhat surprising with DeAngelo Russell stirring a lot of buzz about Kentucky. Russell is also a ’14 shooting guard, and was a teammate of UK commit Dakari Johnson at Montverde Academy in Florida. Russell is also a Louisville native.
Booker is currently ranked the 19th best player in the 2014 class by ESPN. He’s the 2nd best SG, and holds offers from Duke, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, Missouri, and now Kentucky. For those of you wondering, Russell is currently #24 in the Class of ’14, and 4th best SG per ESPN.
