Will Hoiberg keep dancing?
Shabazz Napier vs. DeAndre Kane? Yes please. They say that great guard play is essential to making a deep run into March. Well, both of these squads have it. UConn knocked off St. Joe’s in overtime, then outlasted 2-seed Villanova to punch its ticket for the Sweet 16. Iowa State took down North Carolina Central with ease before mounting an incredible comeback down the stretch to beat UNC in one of the more controversial finishes of the tournament. Prediction: In their second round matchup with NC Central, the Cyclones lost star forward Georges Niang for the season with a broken foot. His presence against guard-heavy UConn could have made a huge difference – just look at what Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell did to the Huskies. That being said, ISU was able to survive North Carolina without him.
DeAndre Kane and Melvin Ejim still present problems for UConn, but Shabazz Napier is an issue for any team in the Huskies’ way. This one is a toss-up, but we’ll take UConn at the Garden. Napier is one of the truly elite players in the country right now.
