You have to love Rivalry Week, especially when all eyes turn to the ACC.  Duke and UNC comes tomorrow night though, so we'll save that analysis for tomorrow.  Tonight, we get a matchup of two 3-5 teams as Maryland travels to Clemson.  Clemson will have the services of Milton Jennings who Brad Brownell has reinstated after being suspended for the past week or so.

This matchup will feature two of the better guards in the league in Maryland's Terrell Stoglin and Andre Young.  I always have a tough time picking against Clemson at home, so I'm going to go with the Tigers.  In terms of talent Maryland is the more talented team, while I give Clemson the edge defensively.  The key factor to watch are Maryland's live ball turnovers.  If Clemson gets 8-10 points off of turnovers I think it will be enough to offset the talent advantage for Maryland.

Two Pretty Great Quotes From A Pretty Great Maryland-UNC Game

That Maryland lost a close one to UNC is not the point. The point is that Maryland, a team of underclassmen thought to be at least a year away from anything, was able to push a star-studded, No. 5-ranked team to the brink. Bravo to that, and to the continued development of freshman seven-footer Alex Len, who basically took on UNC’s All-American frontcourt by himself. Anyway,...

Monday Milton Jennings update

CLEMSON - Head coach Brad Brownell has upgraded the status of Milton Jennings for Tuesday night’s game against Maryland.

North Carolina Basketball: UNC survives a tough road test against Maryland

As I said in my preview UNC had to play hard the whole game if they wanted to go home without a loss, and while No. 5 AP/No. 6 ESPN/USA Today North Carolina (20-3 ~ 7-1 in the ACC) had a rough first half, in the end they managed to take down Maryland (13-9 ~ 3-5 in the ACC) in a tough road environment by the final of 83 to 74, once again proving the score does not tell the story...

John Henson's End Of Game Dunk

It is a bit ironic that I had posted the video of Michael Jordan’s dunk at the end of a Maryland game in College Park from 30 years ago.   The dunk elicited boos from the Maryland fans then again it doesn’t take much for the Maryland fans to boo. They did so during a sportsmanship announcement before the game and one person yelled “F*ck Carolina” during the national anthem...

McDaniels steps up

With starting junior forward Milton Jennings still on indefinite suspension for failure to comply with the team's academic standards, the emergence of K.J. McDaniels is coming at a good time for Clemson.
