All Five Starters for Kentucky Wildcats Entering NBA Draft
“Anthony, Doron and Terrence have decided to put their names in the NBA Draft,” Cal said of the three players sitting to his right before pausing, and finishing his statement: “Michael and Marquis have also decided to put their name in the NBA Draft.” –John Calipari
To no surprise, all five starters for the national champion Kentucky Wildcats have declared for the NBA draft. That is just the way John Calipari runs his program. He brings in the best recruits, he coaches them up to the best of his ability, he teaches them the concept of a team, and he sends them off to the NBA when it is in their best interest and that is exactly why the top talent in the country will continue to play for him year in and year out.
Without question, freshman Anthony Davis will be the first pick in the draft. Fellow freshman Michal Kidd-Gilchrist and sophomore Terrence Jones are likely to be NBA lottery picks too. Freshman PG Marquis Teague should get drafted in the first round too with Doron Lamb most likely falling to the second round.

Having lost two seniors as well (Darius Miller will be drafted and Eloy Vargas left the program), the Wildcats have now lost a total of seven players from their title-winning squad. But don’t worry, there will be no “rebuilding” at Kentucky as they are already a preseason No.1 favorite thanks to the recruiting of John Calipari who brought in Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin and Willie Cauley. If Doron Lamb and Darius Miller get drafted in the first round, Coach Cal will have gotten 6 players drafted in round 1 which would just be a remarkable accomplishment, having broke his own record in 2010.
Calipari on losing his players:
“This is a players’ first program. I said it three years ago. During the season, it’s about our team. You saw it in this year’s team, they were about each other,” coach John Calipari said. “When the season is over, it’s about moments like this.”

While signing autographs in Bowling Green Kentucky on Saturday morning, Kentucky’s center, Eloy Vargas, was met by one of his fans with a big question. That question came from Natascha Richardson, a senior at nearby Gatton Academy. She asked Vargas to take her to her prom, that night.
Vargas obliged, on one condition. He requested that he be allowed to attend the prom in casual...

I'm jumping ahead. In my season previews I always look at lost minutes in relation to what all the other teams in any particular conference lost. Then the transfers and recruits get factored in, and away it goes.
But yesterday Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchirst, Terrance Jones, Doron Lamb and Marquis Teague all announced that they were leaving Kentucky for the NBA. And...

Head coach Paul Mainieri and his Tigers take their No. 1 ranking on the road when they visit the 2nd-ranked Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington this weekend.
With the way things are going now for John Calipari compared to the way they went when he coached in the NBA, he would be insane to go back. Calipari just won a national championship with Kentucky, and what do you know he may not end up vacating it. If that’s not a milestone reached then I don’t know what is. Still, the Knicks are in need of a coach so Calipari’s name has been...
National player of the year Anthony Davis isn't giving away whether he and four teammates from national champion Kentucky will declare for the NBA draft at a news conference Tuesday.
But with the possibility that all could leave college early, coach John Calipari says ''my guess is we'll need a new batch.''
Kentucky announced Monday that Davis, Michael Kidd...
Things are going swimmingly well for Kentucky coach John Calipari as his team just came off winning the NCAA title game. That’s quite an accomplishment, and instigated talks of Calipari joining the New York Knicks. Insert Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley has a long-standing ‘issue’ with the New York Knicks and has been making jokes about the team [...]
