Oh, how I long for the days of UNLV players partying in a hot tub with a shady booster being the biggest scandal in college sports. Syracuse fired basketball assistant coach Bernie Fine on Sunday when it became undeniably clear that the guy is a serious creep. That was the same day ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” played a recorded telephone conversation from 2002 in which accuser Bobby Davis spoke to Fine’s wife Laurie, who admitted she knew that her husband was molesting Davis. Unfortunately, molestation has become the new “booster buying a recruit a car” in college sports. We are just weeks removed from the explosive charges filed against former Penn State football assistant Jerry Sandusky — the very charges that emboldened Fine’s accusers to come forward. Though Orange head coach Jim Boeheim is not implicated in any way in this case, it has at least proven one thing we have always known — the guy is an asshole. When the story originally broke, Boeheim described the alle...

Syracuse Chancellor Gives Jim Boeheim Vote of Confidence

Syracuse Orange Coach Jim Boeheim has been pretty quiet on the child molestation charges against his now fired right man of multiple decades Bernie Fine. On Sunday he backed off a little from the acrimonious comments he initially made against Fine’s accusers. On Monday he said nothing at all, and probably realizes that in this case talking media equals “less is more.” Syracuse...

Truth is elusive in Bernie Fine scandal

For those of you who can discern the truth within this Syracuse-Bernie Fine-child-molestation scandal, I tip my hat. You have a level of X-ray vision/intellect that escaped my limited physical/mental blessings. From where I sit -- despite the allegations of a third accuser, the public airing of a secretly recorded conversation between Fine's original accuser and Fine's wife...

Leading Off: Urban Meyer's less-than-shocking about-face lands him at Ohio State and Syracuse ponders its basketball future under Jim Boeheim but with Bernie Fine hanging over everything.

Bernie Fine Finally Fired

What took so long? Bernie Fine has finally been fired by Syracuse. With allegations swirling that he’s a child molester, Syracuse really had no choice.
