College Basketball Betting – Oregon Rivals Square Off In Corvallis

Push your NHL trade deadline 2012 rumors to the side briefly because it’s time for college hoops, and this Sunday in Corvallis, Oregon State will try to throw a wrench into the NCAA Tournament plans of their rivals from Oregon. The Ducks haven’t danced in the Tournament since 2008, and the Pac-12 may not be strong enough to get that many teams into the field, so Oregon can’t afford to fall on the road against their rivals.

Oregon Oregon State Odds – Sunday, 7:30 PM ET

After losing by three to California to kick off a three-game stretch on the road, the Ducks (19-8, 10-5 Pac-12) edged Stanford 68-64 and some sportsbook reviews would state that they worked hard on defense (the Cardinal hit just five of their 31 three-point attempts) and got a little fortune (Stanford was also 11-of-22 from the foul line). E.J. Singler notched 20 points, while Olu Ashaolu had 14 points and 10 boards for the Ducks, who also had 10 offensive rebounds to six to Stanford, and that leads to more chances to pick up points. Oregon’s best win is a 35-point bombing of Washington, and they may need to run the table, including the Pac-12 tournament, to get into this year’s March Madness spreads.

The Beavers (15-12, 5-10 Pac-12) have dropped four in a row after a 77-63 loss at Cal, and Oregon State fell apart in the second half as they were outscored by 14 points. Roberto Nelson came off the bench with 14 points, while Devon Collier chipped in with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Beavers, who hit 38.5% of their field-goal attempts and went 3-of-13 from beyond the arc. Those working with bookie software have watched the Beavers struggle through a tough season, but preventing their state rivals from reaching the Tournament would be a bright spot.

It’s a toss-up as to who should be favored in this contest, even though Oregon is 3-2 SU and ATS in their last five on the road at Oregon State, who are 7-4-1 ATS at home this season while the Ducks are 8-3 ATS on the road. The first meeting of the season was in Eugene, and the Beavers stole a 76-71 win on their rival’s home court thanks to a huge second half from Jared Cunningham, who scored 24 of his 27 points after the intermission. Cunningham had a poor night against the Golden Bears and he’ll want to redeem himself against the Ducks, especially at home. Oregon is a decent team, but they haven’t shown enough to prove that they’re even worthy of a Tournament spot, and their chances will take a significant blow on the road on Sunday. Take Oregon State at home in your weekend sports betting picks.
