Follow The Fizz on Twitter for the latest SU basketball news   via Yahoo! Sports Coming into the year, Tyler Ennis was unknown. Jim Boeheim raved about the maturity of the freshman point guard. But in the first few games, Ennis caused some to worry about his play. Ennis erased any doubts with his play this week in Maui. Against Minnesota, Ennis shot just 1-of-9 from the field, but he hit 10-of-11 from the free-throw line, totaling 12 points, while adding five assists and five steals. Ennis had a solid all-around game. He got the rest of the team involved in the offense and got the offense going in a 75-67 win over the Golden Gophers. Against Cal on Tuesday night, Ennis scored 28 points, by far the most he has scored in a college game. Ennis was on the floor for 37 of the 40-minute game versus the Golden Bears, and every one of his points was needed in a matchup that was much closer than the final score indicates. Then, last night, against 18th-ranked Baylor, Ennis had 11 points and ...

Michael Gbinije Makes A Huge Block

Credit: Bleacher Report Syracuse’s Michael Gbinije completely devoured  Baylor’s Taurean Prince shot in the Maui Invitational last night. It looked that Prince would have an easy layup before Gbinije came in swatting the ball all the way into the crowd.

Syracuse Beats Cal, Moves On To Maui Championship

Cal did not, in fact, get back in this. The Syracuse Orange are moving on to the 2013 Maui Invitational championship game. Special thanks to Tyler Ennis who just blew up for 28 points. We'll have a recap for you shortly but in the meantime, three things... ALERT: Please keep Tyler Ennis away from all Lord & Taylor's stores #OrangeNation @NunesMagician — Joel Semel...

TCT’s Matchup of the Day features a battle at the point guard position between Syracuse freshman Tyler Ennis and Baylor’s Kenny Chery, a JUCO transfer playing his first season with the Bears. Ennis has struggled to get going this season, but turned in the best game of his brief college career against Cal yesterday, dropping 28 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field. Chery...

When they needed him most, C.J. Fair stepped up and led...

Syracuse TE Beckett Wales out for season

Syracuse tight end Beckett Wales is out for rest of the season. Wales suffered an upper body injury during Saturday's 17-16 loss to Pittsburgh and will undergo surgery, the university announced. Through 11 games this season, Wales has 10 catches for 78 yards. He had a season-high three catches for 33 yards against Pittsburgh before the injury. Wales has 52 career receptions...

Syracuse TE Beckett Wales out for upper body surgery

If the Syracuse Orange wins on Saturday, it will not be with the help of tight end Beckett Wales. The 6′-3″ 238 lb. senior suffered a season ending upper body injury in the 17-16 loss to Pitt on Saturday. As is becoming the growing trend in college football, school officials would only say that Wales requires surgery to his upper body. I hate to see any player hurt, especially...

Syracuse's Drew Allen, a study in perseverance

Coming out of high school in San Antonio, Texas, Drew Allen had all the tools to succeed as a college quarterback: he was 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, could throw a ball 70 yards while standing flat-footed, ran a 4.7-second 40-yard dash, bench-pressed 265 pounds, squatted 345, had a vertical leap of 29 inches, and excelled in the classroom. Add in his affable demeanor, and he's...

The talent Jerami Grant possesses was known by die-hard Syracuse fans who saw that skill flash during stretches last season. In Maui, Grant proved his game has gone to another level as he dazzled with his athleticism throughout.

Fair-y tale ending

Syracuse held off Baylor on Wednesday as the Orange improved to 7-0 in winning the Maui Invitational. Senior forward C.J. Fair had his best performance of the tournament when it mattered the most.

Syracuse vs. BC: This Is Why You Don't Retire No. 44

A star RB wearing No. 44 will add to his legacy this weekend in the Carrier Dome. Only problem? He doesn't play for Syracuse. Saturday, a college football player wearing No. 44 will enter the Syracuse game with Heisman hopes and history books on his mind. He will line up at running back and attempt to his already-impressive tally of 2,073 yards and sixteen touchdowns. He will...
