Plenty is at stake today when #20 Marquette comes to the Carrier Dome. The Golden Eagles are looking to avoid a 1-2 Big East start, after blowing a 17-point lead to Georgetown on Wednesday. For Syracuse, the most obvious motivating factor is revenge, after losing to Marquette twice last season, including a season-ending loss in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. To find the real importance of this game for the Orange however, we must look forward rather than back. SU is off to 16-0 start and is #1 in the country, making the most frequently asked question surrounding the team “How long will they stay undefeated?” A look at the schedule lying ahead would lead you to answer that question: if Syracuse can get by Marquette, it may remain undefeated and #1 for awhile.
