Found November 14, 2012 on Madtown Badgers:
It's hard to beat perfection and that's exactly what happened for Erik Murphy as he lead the Gators(2-0) to a 74-56 romp of Wisconsin (1-1) at the O-Zone. Murphy poured in a game high 24 points on 10-10 shooting from the field and 2-2 shooting from the line for a perfect shooting night in the victory. For the second straight game the Badgers went down 7-0 to an opponent , only this time they were playing the 10th ranked team in the country and Wisconsin couldn't come back from that as they never led in the loss.  The hot start for Florida continued throughout the first half as they lead 43-31 at the half, shooting 75% from the field and controlling the pace of the game. Wisconsin simply couldn't keep up and weren't playing their normally physical and mentally sound defense as the Gators got to them early and often.  Sam Dekker scored a career best 11 points along with 11 from Jared Berggren to lead Wisconsin's scorers for the night. Berggren was t...

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Erik Murphy is no longer just an outside threat. The 6-foot-10 power forward made all 10 of his shots, including several in the post and just two from 3-point range, as the short-handed Gators enjoyed...

Murphy over illness, lights up Badgers

It was a migraine headache that kept Erik Murphy out of practice on Monday and put his status for Wednesday in doubt. The rest of the No. 10 Florida team might need to suffer from the same. The senior forward played his best game at Florida, tying a career high with 24 points on 10-of-10 shooting from the field while adding eight rebounds as the Gators cruised to a 74-56 win over No. 22 Wisconsin.

Murphy’s status against Wisconsin uncertain

With No. 10 Florida already down three players from the team that opened preseason practice, they’re dealing with another blow that could be even bigger. Senior forward Erik Murphy missed practice on Monday with an illness and his status is in doubt with No. 22 Wisconsin coming to Gainesville on Wednesday night. It’s another obstacle the Gators are forced to face this early in the year.

Badgers no match for No. 10 Gators

Murphy made all 10 of his shots, including two from 3-point range, as the short-handed Gators enjoyed a double-digit lead most of the night. He also had seven rebounds. Game Recap: Grounded in Gainesville

Maybe Bo Ryan should have delayed the Florida home-and-home a little longer. Senior center Erik Murphy was a perfect 10-for-10 to tie his career high with 24 points, leading No.10 Florida past No.22 Wisconsin, 74-56, at the O'Connell Center Wednesday night.

Rapid Recap: Florida Dismantles Wisconsin

The Florida Gators finished off #22 Wisconsin 74-56 Wednesday night in grand fashion. Forward Erik Murphy was the star of the show for UF, but the team as a whole played very well. Cody Jones and Allison Banko break down just how impressive a victory it was and how it happened shortly after the game in this Rapid Recap for our subscribers here at Fightin' Gators.

Physical Wisconsin matchup looms for Gators

The matchup doesn’t look good for Florida on paper. No. 22 Wisconsin has built its reputation on physicality and dominating in the paint. The Gators only have two fully healthy big men on Wednesday, with Erik Murphy dealing with an illness. It’s hard to draw up what to expect with a lack of bodies in practice, but No. 10 Florida knows it has to be ready to play physical on Wednesday.

Video: Players Talk After Big Win

The Florida Gators shined on Wednesday beating #22 Wisconsin by 18 points. There was a lot to be proud of including a monster performance from forward Erik Murphy. The Gators have a huge pre-conference schedule this year and things look bright, but as forward Patric Young tells us, they still have a lot to work on.

Gators are a team of many facets

Quietly, Florida coach Billy Donovan has had the Florida Gators on the brink of the Final Four once again in the last two years as they have suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses in the Elite Eight.  What makes these experiences so worthwhile is that Florida is a definition of team chemistry with several players who can hoop it up at several positions on the floor as Wisconsin...

No. 22 Wisconsin falls behind, loses at Florida

No. 22 Wisconsin isn't built to overcome big deficits. So when the Badgers fell behind by 19 points early in the second half at No. 10 Florida on Wednesday night, the game was essentially over. Sam Dekker and Jared Berggren scored 11 points apiece for Wisconsin, but it wasn't enough in a 74-56 loss to the Gators. ''Sometimes you're built with more experience...

Inside the boxscore: Florida 74, Wisconsin 56

1. Wisconsin grabbed 9 defensive boards. Florida grabbed 9 offensive boards. When a team shoots and misses and it's a coinflip as to who gets the ball, then that's the recipe for a loss. Florida was a hot-shooting team for most of the night, and on the occasions they did miss, they often just got the ball right back. 2. The Badgers made just 7-24 3-point attempts (29.2...
