The Bull Gator:
Guards Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton led the Florida Gators over the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers on Tuesday night. Behind a combined 43 points from Walker and Boynton, the Gators moved to 12-3 on the season after the 79-61 victory. Not only did both shoot greater than 0.500 from the field, but they went a combined 13-for-18 from behind the three-point line.In addition to the night had by Walker and Boynton, Patric Young went 7-for-10 from the floor to add 15 points. The three helped relieve what can only be described as an awful shooting night from freshman Bradley Beal. Beal has been streaky lately and on Tuesday night was on the down end of the slope. He finished 2-for-15 from the floor while only scoring five points. He did, however, tie for the team lead with Walker with six assists. The Gators have now won two straight in convincing fashion after being upset by the Rutgers Scarlet Nights last week. While the loss was an unwelcome result, Florida's last two gam...
BEST OF MAXIM
Erving Walker has been waiting all season for a game like Tuesday. Florida head coach Billy Donovan challenged him in the preseason to lead the SEC in assists, but the focus on that hurt his shot and found him struggling to find a role in the offense. Shots weren't falling, and when he did take them, they weren't good shots. Walker changed that with a team-high 23 points...
A down season for the Gators ended with two of the team's best players getting invited to the Senior Bowl. Running back Chris Rainey and defensive tackle Jaye Howard were both selected to participate in the Senior Bowl on January 28 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. This is the third consecutive year that a senior from Florida has participated in the game.
He's back home on the inside of the defensive line and with this tumultuous season behind him Sharrif Floyd says the Gators are ready to make forward progress in 2012. The sophomore defensive tackle from Philadelphia has been a mainstay for the Florida defense all year and on Saturday that defense was dominant against a Big-10 squad that was supposed to be bigger and more physical.
Their 15-game pre-conference slate ends Tuesday night, but the Florida Gators won't waltz into league play this weekend.
Alabama at Birmingham won't let them.
Andre Debose has spent all season giving the Gators a deep threat. In Monday's Gator Bowl, he found a different, but familiar, way to make an impact. Debose secured the Gator Bowl MVP with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that came just after an Ohio State touchdown to tie the game. The kickoff return also forced changes to be made to the Florida record books.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Erving Walker scored 23 points, Kenny Boynton added 20 and No. 13 Florida beat UAB 79-61 on Tuesday night, the Gators' final tuneup before beginning Southeastern Conference play.
Patric Young chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds for the Gators (12-3), who won their 14th consecutive home game.
Cameron Moore led the Blazers (5-8) with 15 points. Ovie...
Want to see the Big 10′s hope die in a game? Well look no further. Chris Rainey blocked this punt and clinched the game along with another amazing special teams play by Andre Debose. Thank goodness the Gators don’t have a losing season.
Robert Clark, a former Gators receiver, intends to sign with Louisville, he told Scout.com’s Louisville site.
Clark left Florida in October, along with fellow Dwyer HS graduate Gerald Christian. Both players have been talking to programs and taking visits recently.
Landing Clark should help Louisville get Christian, a tight end.
Both players were true sophomores last year and will...
