After a several month battle with a heart condition that had him hospitalized for what felt like an eternity, former Saint Louis University Billikens basketball coach Rick Majerus passed away on Saturday at the age of 64. Majerus, who led the Billikens to a 26 win season a year ago after succumbing to the mighty Michigan State Spartans in a valiantly led effort, stepped down officially as the SLU coach months prior to the season due to the condition. Now, just one day before the Billikens tip-off their seventh game of the season at home at Chafeitz Arena, Billikens players must do so with heavy hearts. Majerus, who battled weight and health issues for years, was widely known as one of the best collegiate basketball minds of his time.
