Our look back at the 2011-12 Badger basketball team continues and today we hit our only true freshman in Traevon Jackson.  He was the only member of this recruiting class to not redshirt and it was a bit of a mixed bag as to be expected.

He didn't see a lot of playing time which seems to be the case with just about all true freshman in the Badgers program for the past 15 years or so and the results speak to why they do it.  Jackson, the son of former Buckeye great Jim Jackson, did make the most of the minutes he did get, so how do we see his performance this season?

Overall Stats:

1.1ppg, 1rpg, 3 assists, 7 turnovers, 1 block, 1 steal - 5.4 minutes per game

Cole: Incomplete

Andy: D

- It was a close one as to whether or not Jackson got enough time to get a grade, but for myself his early season double digit minutes gave me enough to work off of to grade him.  Jackson scored a season/career best 4 points twice (vs. Green Bay and vs. Mississippi Valley State).  He played in three games where he had more than 10 minutes played but also had trouble getting on the floor when conference play came around.  He only made appearances in six Big Ten games and a lot had to do with the fact that he was a bit turnover prone.  He committed 5 of his 7 turnovers before the Big Ten season started.  He looks like eventually he'll be capable of replacing the point guard duties, but not necessarily the scoring of Jordan Taylor.  He'll need to improve his outside shot as he hit just 37.5% of his attempts from three point land and just 36.8% of his field goals.  Because of that and the turnovers he gets the lowest grade from me so far this year.  I had more expectations from him in terms of showing better decision making ability, even for a freshman, so his turnovers and poor shooting led him to our lowest grade so far.
