1. Matthew Dellavedova, in addition to hitting the insane shot to win the game, continues to climb the St. Mary's record book with each game. Every made 3-pointer (including 35-foot one-handed ones) pads his all-time lead, as does each assist. He recorded two steals on the night which moved him past David Carter and into 4th place all-time. He now needs four more to pass Chase Poole. 2. However, the all-time steals leader is almost certainly bound to be junior Stephen Holt when all is said and done. Holt didn't have any against BYU but is just seven behind Dellavedova and 52 behind the current record holder Diamon Simpson. Holt did make 5-9 3s on his way to a team high 22 points. It's obvious that his injury is now behind him. 3. Sophomore point guard Matt Carlino has struggled with turnovers in his career (he had 9 in a game vs San Diego as a freshman). Against the Gaels Carlino committed 6 turnovers, which matches his season high. 4. St. Mary's is the 7th toughest (of 347 Division I teams) team to get offensive rebounds against. The Cougars only grabbed 19% of their own misses, which was their 2nd worst game of the season. It was the 9th time this season in which the Gaels held an opponent below 20%. 5. The largest lead for each team was six for St. Mary's and sixteen for BYU. This is a game which began 20-4. From that point the Gaels outscored the Cougars 66-49.
