With one of Iowa State’s main players done for the tournament (forward George Niang – broken foot against North Carolina Central), the Cyclones needed to play a perfect game to beat UNC.
Not only did DeAndre Kane and Iowa State play great basketball, the team also remained resilient in the end with Kane hitting the game-winning layup with 1.6 seconds left. The victory would send the Cyclones to their first Sweet 16 since 2000.
After the game, Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg could no longer contain his emotions and decided to bust out with his very own dance in the team locker room.

Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg had reason to be dancing Sunday afternoon after his third-seeded Cyclones knocked off No. 6 seed North Carolina to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
Hoiberg celebrated with his team in the locker room after the 85-83 win, busting out some of the most Iowa dance moves of all time.
Iowa State lost a key piece to their lineup Friday night in their 93-75 win over North Carolina Central.
Sophomore forward Georges Niang suffered a fracture in his foot during the second half of the contest and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

If you were surprised by this result, even with the clock operator issues, you haven’t watched enough of the Cyclones this season.
