Junior Cardinals star Gorgui Dieng will actually be a senior, at least for one night. Via Eric Crawford:
“UofL media advisory for pregame news conference confirms Gorgui Dieng will take part in Seniro Night Activity.”
While that is sad (really, really, really sad), it’s no surprise. Pitino has mentioned the NBA and the draft every time that Dieng’s name has come up in press conferences. The surprise is that it lists that Dieng, Mike Marra and Peyton Siva will be speaking about the Senior Night happenings… Senior Stephan Van Treese, however, was not listed.
How is it possible for a senior with records of playing all four years to have another year of eligibility, you ask?
He could apply for a medical redshirt from the 2011-2012 season, and be granted another one next year.
