PLAYERS: Cody Zeller
TEAMS: Indiana Hoosiers
Ridiculously leaving school as a sophomore, Indiana Hoosiers center Cody Zeller has decided to enter the NBA Draft. The 20-year-old Zeller, an All-Big Ten First Team choice who averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 36 games, is expected to be taken in the top half of the first round. Unfortunately for the native Indianan, it became readily evident that the 7-foot, 240 pound Zeller isn’t ready for the association when Syracuse overwhelmed the No. 1-seeded Hoosiers 61-50 last month. Scoring a measly 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting against the Orange (29-9, 11-7 Big East), Zeller currently lacks … Continue reading →

Impact of Oladipo, Zeller doesn’t end now

For IU fans, the immediate reaction to the news that sophomore Cody Zeller and junior Victor Oladipo will both enter the 2013 NBA Draft is one of a bittersweet nature. On one hand, it’s hard to escape the thought of what next season could have looked like had the two All-Americans opted to return for another crack at a national championship. It’s been 26 years since the last...

Cody Zeller declares for 2013 NBA Draft

Those close to Cody Zeller said they didn’t know what his decision would be in the days following Indiana’s season-ending loss to Syracuse in the Sweet Sixteen. His older brother Tyler, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, was even asked about it before Tuesday night’s game against the Pacers. But in reality, Zeller kind of knew all along. It’s time to go to the next level....

Zeller and pair of point guards turning pro early

Indiana 7-footer Cody Zeller and a pair of point guards were among the latest standout underclassmen to enter the NBA draft. Joining Zeller were Syracuse's Michael Carter-Williams and Missouri's Phil Pressey. Oladipo declares for NBA Draft; Zeller next?

It was the right decision, and it came as little surprise. But nevertheless, Indiana’s Victor Oladipo officially announced on Tuesday afternoon that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2013 NBA Draft on June 27. “I swayed back and forth, especially throughout the season,” Oladipo said at a press conference on the Assembly Hall floor. “I just felt like this is what...

Indiana Hoosiers – A Season in Review

As fate would have it, Hoosiers, it looks like we’ll have to wait at least another year to hang our sixth banner. It’s easy to write off this season simply as a disappointment. After starters Hulls, Oladipo, Watford, and Zeller returned, Indiana was the preseason favorite to win the national championship. Following that, they spent 10 total weeks with the No. 1 ranking atop...

Indiana's Zeller heading to NBA

Indiana's Cody Zeller turned down one chance to play in the NBA. He couldn't say no twice. The reason was simple. ''The leaders that I came in looking up to and copying their work ethic...

Big Ten basketball landscape to be vastly different in 2013-14

Earlier this week we reported that Cody Zeller will be joining teammate Victor Oladipo in declaring early for the NBA Draft this summer. They aren't the only ones to do it or about to do it either and coupled with a lot of graduating talent it means that the Big Ten in 2013-14 is going to look vastly different than it did this year. Different to some in the national media...
