Michigan Basketball point guard, Trey Burke, continues to amaze with his poise and outstanding play. The College Basketball world is taking notice. He was just named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award which is presented annually to the nation’s top point guard. See the complete list of finalists here. Burke is averaging 14 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Burke is the reigning co-Big Ten Player of the Week and has already been named the Big Ten Freshmen of the Week 3 times. He is coming off a career-high 27 points against Minnesota, his second 20+ point performance of the season. He has quickly erased any concerns Michigan had about losing Darius Morris to the NBA. Burke has made a near seamless transition as the team’s starting point guard and is playing with the savvy of an upperclassman. Click on the images to enlarge them      Burke is a very focused and determined young man. We asked him at media day what it was that fueled him. He said, “Trying to get to the league.” I have no doubt that with continued development under the tutelage of his outstanding position coach LaVall Jordan and head coach John Beilein that he will make it to the NBA. In the meantime he is concentrating all of his efforts on the Michigan Wolverines. He is one of the reasons that U-M can be a factor in the Big Ten and contend for a conference championship.
