Score:  No. 2 Duke 71 No. 3 Michigan State 61 Star(s): Duke: Seth Curry 29 Pts, 3 Reb. Michigan State: Adreian Payne 14 Pts, 10 Reb. Story: It seemed Michigan State was going to come into the second half with momentum after cutting the Duke lead to one when Adreian Payne made a huge 3-pointer. The first half consisted of eight lead changes and four ties, but it was Duke who outran and outplayed the Spartans during the second half of the game. The Spartans were 7-of-23 in the second half as Duke dominated on both ends of the court. It didn’t help matters when it seemed Gary Harris had popped his shoulder out of place yet again. His performance, along with everyone else’s on the team, continued to spiral downward with signs of fatigue. The Spartans were unable to defend Seth Curry, who scored a career high of 29-points. In many ways, it was more of an upset to Tom Izzo, who always seems to fall just behind Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski. These two iconic coaches have had their share of success in the NCAA Tournament, but this time around it was the Blue Devils who came out on top with a 71-61 victory over the Spartans.   Thank you @derricknix25, for everything you gave MSU the last four years. Wish you could’ve gone out with a “R.I.P. ta da competition” — Josh Starkey (@JoshStarkey19) March 30, 2013 Gary Harris saying MSU will lose just 1 player, Nix, seemed surprised when asked about leaving early. Says he hasn’t thought of it. — Joe Rexrode (@joerexrode) March 30, 2013 Anyone notice that every time one if MSU’s guards shoots, Duke tries to push ‘em in the chest? Refs look at the ball on shot — Adam Ruff (@Spartan_Radio) March 30, 2013 These raised courts have to be the best for athletes safety #SaidNoOneEver — Mike Sadler (@Sadler_3) March 30, 2013 Anyone notice that every time one if MSU’s guards shoots, Duke tries to push ‘em in the chest? These refs are killing us. — MSU Wonka (@MSUWonka) March 30, 2013 Coach K and coach Izzo relegated to stools on raised court at Lucas Oil Stadium. Rest of team & staff on the floor. twitter.com/Duke_MBB/statu… — Duke Men’s Hoops (@Duke_MBB) March 30, 2013
