The Nation’s #1 recruit, Shabazz Muhammad, will not be staying at home to play college basketball this fall. Cross UNLV off his list, as the Las Vegas native now has his own set of final four schools left remaining for his services. Two of them will be competing this Final Four weekend as Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and UCLA remain in the mix.

On the day after he won the high school all-star week’s dunk competition, and on the eve of the McDonald’s All-American game, Muhammad talked about what each one has to offer.

In his bracket, Muhammad had KU and UK in the final (nice picks), selecting Kentucky to win. But he doesn’t know which one he’ll cheer for this weekend. So don’t know try to discern any clues from that. But here’s what he had to say about his final four choices in schools, and by schools, I mean the University he’ll likely do a one-and-done before becoming the #1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

How about the Kansas Jayhawks?

“Not having a superior team this year, and just still leading them to the Final Four. Bill Self is such a good coach, he really pushes you on the offensive and defensive end,” Muhammad said.

“The program that Bill Self has built over there is just second to none. and he can really push you on the defensive end.”

And the Kentucky Wildcats?

“With the style of play with Coach Cal, they can really push you, going to their practices and seeing everyone diving on the floor just gives you an adrenaline rush,” he said.

And how about the Duke Blue Devils?

“Coach K. is always so prestigious with the USA Team and how much experience he’s had with those pro guys. All his assistants work out with the pro guys and you can (also) work out with the pro guys, that’s second to none. (he previously described Kentucky Wildcats fans as second to none, I’m guessing that among his favorite expressions to use, this phrase is…..second to none)

And UCLA Bruins:

“Coach Howland,  even though they struggled last year, they’re getting some pieces, Kyle Anderson, Jordan Adams, the half court offense- I think kyle will do a good job there,” Shabazz said.

So when we’ll he make the call? April 10th.

“Decision day: it’s really stressful, we’re really getting into the process, it’s just very hard and I need to make sure I make the right decision for me,” he said at McDonald’s All-American Game media day.
