During Thursday’s NBA Draftat at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel and Kansas’ Ben McLemore had custom jacket liners with their college jersey sewn inside them. Both players were expected to get drafted higher than they actually were. Noel, who was in contention for the No.1 pick, fell to No. 6 (the Pelicans traded his rights to the Philadelphia Sixers for Jrue Holiday). McLemore went one pick after Noel at No.7 to the Sacramento Kings.
BEST OF MAXIM
Nerlens Noel’s high-top fade is his permanent fashion statement, but that didn’t stop Noel from making another one during his draft night on Thursday. The Kentucky big man flashed his Wildcats jersey, which was stitched inside his draft night suit, just after being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans at #6 overall.
Noel was considered by many to be the likely top pick of Thursdays...
Nerlens Noel Trade: What a long, strange trip it’s been for Nerlens Noel; from being a lock for the No. 1 pick to dropping to No. 6 and being traded!
Many people assumed the Kentucky Wildcat was going to go No. 1 even before he went to college. His one year was pretty good–not as dominant as expected, but than again the Wildcats as a whole were not as good as expected.With...
With the 2013 NBA Draft only a day away (Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN), two gentlemen invited to the NBA’s Green Room, Nerlens Noel and Cody Zeller, are enlisting fans to help pick their draft day suit.
NBA.com posted the three options that Kentucky freshmen Nerlens Noel could sport when he’ll likely be drafted No.1 overall by the Cavaliers.
Suit No.2 is very...
After Nerlens Noel's hectic first and only season with Kentucky, the 2013 NBA Draft was more of the same. He slipped, then was traded without even knowing.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) -- The Pelicans have acquired Philadelphia All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday in a trade that sent Thursday night's sixth overall draft choice, Nerlens Noel, to the 76ers, said a person familiar with the situation.
New Orleans also sent the 76ers a protected 2014 first-round pick and received the Sixers' second-round selection -- 42nd overall -- in this...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Well, whattaya know? Tom Petty was right. The waiting really is the hardest part.
"Watching the draft was a very stressful thing on the TV," ex-Kansas center Jeff Withey, now of the Portland Trailblazers, said late Thursday, roughly a half-hour after they'd finally stuck a fork in the 2013 NBA Draft. "So my whole thought process was, Maybe...
Well. Alrighty then.
Yeah. I just wrote that. Get over it.
Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum as the first two picks of the Vivek & Co. era. That's nothing if not anything but an asset collection as far as I can see.
Are either of those players automatically better than Tyreke Evans? No. What about Isaiah Thomas? I'd say McLemore of course is, but by how much...
Tonight, in his first draft as Sixers' GM, Sam Hinkie took the sole reason for watching the 2012-13 Sixers and sent it packing.
Jrue Holiday is 23 years old. He's 6'-4", 205, cares about defense, tried all year despite being on a going nowhere team, and was an All-Star in his fourth season. He threw down a 17.7/4.2/8.0 slash line on a team with no...
With just hours remaining until the NBA Draft, here is my mock draft: 1. Cleveland Cavaliers – Nerlens Noel – Kentucky (C) All signs point to Cleveland picking Nerlens at number one. He fills a positional need, and many scouts consider him to be the highest upside player in this draft class. Also, he will likely miss half of the season, giving the Cavs a chance to have a high...
So I didn't sit down to watch until the sixth pick and was a
little surprised to see Nerlens Noel go to the Hornets, er Pelicans followed by
Ben McLemore heading to the Kings. This
just shows how unsure everyone is about the top of this draft as these two
could have gone 1 and 2 and no one would be shocked.
Instead Anthony Bennett goes #1 overall. He’s 6’8”, 240lbs...
There are two types of people who talk about the NBA draft — those who say they know what will happen, and those who aren’t lying.
The 2013 draft is even more of a crapshoot than most, with only some consensus on who the Cleveland Cavaliers will take first overall and virtually no consensus after that. Everybody wants to trade away their picks in what is widely considered a relatively...
