No overtime this time, smiles all around A farewell that won’t soon be forgotten, accompanied by a 73-57 win for the University of Louisville basketball team over Notre Dame, witnessed by a record crowd of 22,815 Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center. Two seniors with near perfect games, Gorgui Dieng with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Peyton Siva with five assists, three-of-five behind the three-point lines and 13 points. Two individuals who will always reflect the best in UofL athletics, destined for continued success on the court and in the lives wherever the road takes them. Gorgui looking like he just might be becoming a dominant force at just the right time. Peyton, well, he confirmed that when he stays out of foul trouble, he can be what everybody expected him to be, one of the best point guards in America. Making fans believe that anything is possible with March Madness breathing down their collective neck. Days like this don’t come around often. One to savor for 24 hours and move on. Huge challenges await this team. Peyton Siva is loaded down with a dozen or so leis loaded with candy bars after the game. Gorgui Dieng gets a memento with shouts of ‘One More Year’ ringing in his ears. UofL gets still another Big East Conference first place trophy, sharing the honor with Georgetown and Marquette. Rick Pitino achieves still another objective, those seven wins in a row to finish the season, earning a double bye in the Big East Tournament.
