TEAMS: We’ve got a bit of uplifting news today out of Louisville. Kevin Ware, who suffered a horrific broken leg injury against Duke in the Elite Eight this past March, is already back taking jump shots in the gym. WDRB’s Eric Crawford reported such last night. That’s right. Jump shots. They weren’t the high-flying variety he showed in his emergence as a major part of U of L’s national championship team late in the season, but they were shots with a little bit of bounce. The turnaround on this seems incredible, as Ware’s injury took place just over two months ago. Still, Ware is not expected to play at all this year and is slotted (hopefully) for a return some time in 2014. He is, however, expected to make a full recovery. [WDRB via CBS Sports]

Rick Pitino featured on bottle of Maker's Mark

Tweet   Louisville men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino has carved out a pretty decent career for himself.  Pitino led the Cardinals to a national championship earlier this year, his second as a head coach and third for Louisville. He’s made a host of trips to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, won SEC Tournament [...]

What Is Going On With Zach Price?

For the majority of the year, the Louisville basketball team isn’t allowed to be on Twitter. It’s been pretty well known that for the past couple of years, you’ll see the members of the basketball team keep their Twitter accounts, but not send out a Tweet for nearly six months. That’s because Rick Pitino prefers his team stay off of Twitter during and before the season starts...

Here’s An Awkward Video Of Rick Pitino Dipping Maker’s Mark Bottles In Wax While Wearing An Apron

Yesterday we saw that Maker’s Mark made a commemorative bottle of its whisky dedicated to Rick Pitino, Louisville’s men’s basketball coach. Today, we get to see Pitino dipping the bottles in wax and signing them, all while wearing an apron. Weird. The whole experience just seems a little awkward to me, but hey, I’ve never been asked to dip anything in hot wax. Pitino also...

Rick Pitino On Zach Price: “I’d Say He Is Gone”

Rick Pitino met with the media on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the details of the new commemorative Makers Mark bottle. He also answered a few questions about the team. Over the weekend, Price sent out a couple of surprising Tweets that were quickly deleted. “I would say he’s gone because our players don...

Rick Pitino Gets Likeness on Commemorative Maker’s Mark Bottle (Photo)

Universities and alcohol don’t generally mix well, but the University of Lousiville and Maker’s Mark have come together for a good cause. Lousiville basketball coach Rick Pitino‘s face will grace special commemorative bottles of Maker’s Mark Kentucky straight bourbon. Only 12,600 were made to be sold, with the profits going toward the school’s planned Academic Center...

The Ultimate Gorgui Dieng Highlight Mix

There is still a part of me that hasn’t accepted that when the Louisville basketball team takes the floor for the first time next season, Gorgui Dieng won’t be with them. In my four years of covering the team, Dieng has single handedly the most beloved Cardinal. With back-to-back Final Four appearances and a national championship, I think it’s safe to say that Gorgs will go...

Louisville sports information director, Kenny Klein, Tweeted this photo of the Rick Pitino commemorative Makers Mark bottle shortly before this afternoon’s press conference. Stay tuned to as we’ll have all of the details of the commemorative bottle following today’s press conference.

Both Louisville’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are doing autograph sessions for fans today at Fort Knox. Of course, after winning the national championship, the men’s team is in particularly high demand, and nobody more so than head coach Rick Pitino. Today, a pretty crazy moment was caught on video — Pitino was asked to autograph a picture of a wounded soldier missing...

Louisville Hoops Getting It Done In The Classroom

One of the main topics at Rick Pitino’s press conference on Tuesday afternoon was the academic success from the Louisville men’s basketball program in recent years, particularly this past season.  Pitino’s team is one of three at the University of Louisville that is among the top 10 percent in their sport, per the APR data. Below is a release from the sports information department...

Nothing Says Success Like a Bourbon Bottle With Your Face On It, Right Rick Pitino?

There are certain things that just scream you've made it--insane contract, fancy sports car, insanely huge house with more bathrooms than you could ever need, trophy wife--the list could go on and on. When you are in Kentucky though there is one thing, one perk, one sign that truly says "I am here!" A commemorative bottle of bourbon--like Louisville head basketball...

Some good news out of Louisville over the weekend. The original article ran on Pattison Ave on Tuesday, so be sure to check it out there. --Being able to stand on your own two feet is something that many Americans take for granted every day, but not Louisville guard Kevin Ware. At least not anymore. Just two months removed from his gruesome leg injury in the NCAA Tournament that...
