The Cardinal Connect:
The Louisville Cardinals have made just 158 three point field goals this season. 279 division one college basketball teams have made more three’s than Louisville this year. Had you told me ten years ago that one of Rick Pitino’s teams would be one of the worst teams in the country in the three point department, I’d think you were insane.
The man who had previously used the three 3-point shot to revolutionize the game and propel his coaching career is now guiding a top ten team that can’t consistently knock down the perimeter jumper. As you could expect, this isn’t something he is thrilled about.
“I feel like I’ve lost one of my closest friends in life without the three-point shot, but that’s the nature of our team right now,” Pitino said following Louisville’s 21-point win over DePaul.
I realize outside shooting hasn’t been the only weakness with Louisville’s offense this year. That said, it certainly has made the team much easier to defend. It’s a little scary to think how good thi

Syracuse and Louisville are locked in a tight battle late at the Carrier Dome – things are tense. Rick Pitino, after an offensive foul call on the Cardinals, got a little animated. We can’t tell if he’s yelling at Russ Smith or Gorgui Dieng, but either way, he’s not happy. Something about getting out of bed after a long slumber, maybe.
Rick Pitino really wanted his Louisville Cardinals players to 'wake the f*** up' against Syracuse on Saturday.
"Wake the **** up," Rick Pitino, today during Louisville / Syracuse.
That's what she said.

Remains to be seen whether Rick Pitino will be elected to the Naismith Hall of Fame this year.
But his University of Louisville basketball team will be among eight teams participating in the pre-season Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Uncasville, Conn. next season.
The field will also include North Carolina, Richmond, Fairfield, Belmont, Hofstra, Holy...
When I first heard that Louisville's Chane Behanan was called for the foul on this play I was not surprised. For one man to over power another--well, for the sake of the other guy's dignity I was rooting for him to get credit for taking the charge not to mention the knee to the head.
As it turns out the play counts and this goes down as arguably one of the best dunks of...
It isn’t quite Selfie Sunday yet, but Peyton Siva and the Louisville Cardinals just couldn’t wait. After a big win on the road defeating No. 12 Syracuse, the Louisville team decided to take a group selfie to put on Instagram:

Seems like it was all in good fun to me, but some may view this as little bit of gloating. But Siva himself said he was...
As diehards of this site (Mom? Are you there?) already know, The Hoops Manifesto runs a College Dunk of the Year Tournament every spring. Our next nominee for the 2012/13 edition is Louisville's Chane Behanan with this vicious cram.
Big up: SLAM
Hold on to your seats Louisville Cardinals fans, adidas has unvieled their funky, sleeved camo uniforms that the Cards will sport during March Madness.
If the tide was going to turn in favor of Syracuse, it was going to happen when James Southerland hit the three-point shot at the 9:21 mark.
He was getting warmed up, making four three-pointers in the second half, or so it seemed.
The 31,173 fans at the Carrier Dome felt it, University of Louisville fans had a sinking sensation with Syracuse claiming a 38-36 lead. Twenty seconds...
Louisville hasn’t won a game at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse since 2010. Let’s go back in time and relive the feeling that we’ll all experience tomorrow. Rakeem Buckles and Samardo Samuels throwing down dunk. Mike Marra and Jared Swopshire raining three’s. Why did I forget that all of this had ever occurred?
You can’t convince me that Mike Marra wouldn’t have made an...
Russ Smith spoke to the media yesterday afternoon previewing Louisville’s game against Syracuse. The always entertaining Russ Smith didn’t disappoint at yesterday’s presser. Video courtesy of Mark Blankenbaker of CardsandCats.com.

Imagine dropping one of the best dunks of your life on ESPNU and some punk ref calls you for an offensive foul. Imagine that your knee is eye level with the dude taking the charge.
You know what sucks about college basketball these days? Offensive fouls. Specifically charges. The good news last night during Louisville’s 79-58 win over DePaul is that the refs changed this to a...
About a month and a half ago, Louisville didn’t close out a game against Syracuse in the Yum Center…this time was a different story. The Cards went into the Carrier Dome and closed out a game in the last minute behind multiple big plays by Luke Hancock.
I have always been the biggest critic of Luke Hancock but today I found myself hoping that he was on the floor over Wayne...
