Just after leaving the White House on Tuesday, Rick Pitino and his entire coaching staff headed to Las Vegas to pick up where they left off with recruiting. There are two big AAU tournaments going on in Vegas right now. The Fab 48, Adidas Super 64 and Las Vegas Classic will run until the end of the weekend. All three of Louisville’s current commitments will be in Vegas this weekend. Quentin Snider and the Louisville Magic are competing in the Fab 48. JaQuan Lyle recently switched AAU clubs from the Indiana Spiece to the Chicago based Mac Irvin Fire and will be participating in the Las Vegas Classic. Shaqquan Aaron will also be playing in the Vegas Classic with the Rotary Club team out of Seattle. On Wednesday night, Pitino was joined by assistants Mike Balado and Kevin Keatts to watch Myles Turner and Cliff Alexander, two of the top centers in the 2014 class square off. According to Jody Demling of Cardinal Authority, Pitino has been watching Turner on Thursday afternoon. Other Loui...

Junior College Forward Becoming A Priority For Rick Pitino

When it comes to the 2014 recruiting class, Rick Pitino and his staff have made it pretty clear that they’ll be looking to add only front-court players from here on out. With the three current commitments being guards, depth in the front-court is needed. Trey Lyles, Cliff Alexander, Goodluck Okonoboh, Myles Turner and Elbert Robinson are just a few of the targets we’ve been hearing...

Behanan catches White House nap

Tuesday was a busy day for the Louisville men's basketball team, which visited the White House to be honored for winning the NCAA championship in April. It was so busy, in fact, that one Cardinals player -- forward Chane Behanan -- had to pause for a quick cat nap while the team was at the president's crib: Chane is sleeping at the White House. Haha

Russ Smith Steals The Show In Estonia

Instead of meeting the President of the United States earlier this week with his teammates, Louisville guard Russ Smith was in Estonia preparing to play for the East Coast All Stars in the annual Four Nation’s Cup. The team had a scrimmage on Tuesday and had their first contest on Thursday morning against Belarus. As you could expect, Russ played very well and was the star of the...

Wisely Kevin Ware Hasn’t And Won’t Watch The Replay Of His Injury

For whatever reason, Louisville guard Kevin Ware wasn’t made available for comment during the team’s visit to the White House earlier this week. However, that doesn’t mean his name wasn’t mentioned numerous times. “And then, of course, there’s Kevin Ware,” Obama said as he mentioned the key pieces for Louisville’s national championship team.”I told him to say hi...

The Top Five Most Improved Players In The Rick Pitino Era

Rick Pitino Gives Advice to Celtics Coach Brad Stevens, Says He Will Need to ‘Accept Losing’ in NBA

Rick Pitino knows what it’s like to coach a struggling team in Boston. He went 102-146 during parts of four seasons with the Celtics before resigning midway through the 2000-01 campaign. A lot has changed since those tough times for both Pitino and the Celtics, though. Pitino is coming off of a national championship with Louisville, and the Celtics finally returned to their former...

Below is a brief recap of Charlie Strong’s comments. Coach Strong opened the press conference by saying that last year’s success will not determine this year’s success. He also went on to talk about how his...

One Particular Media Outlet Is Providing Coach Strong With Bulletin Board Material

If there is one thing that we know about Charlie Strong, it’s that he has always been able to find a way to motivate his team. If there is someone out there that isn’t giving the Louisville football team much respect, he’ll make sure his players know about it. When you’re one of the best teams in the country and you have a schedule filled with lackluster opponents, this strategy...

Strong Says There Are No New Members To The Program. At Least Not Yet

As you could expect, one of the many questions that Charlie Strong was asked yesterday at the annual Governor’s Cup Luncheon was about the possible new additions to the roster. No one actually mentioned the name Michael Dyer, but I guarantee that is exactly who the media was inquiring about. Although Strong says there are no new members to the football team, he also made some comments...
