Russ Smith has a major beef with FedEx after the shipping giant allegedly threw away and lost the national championshp jersey he was presented with on Senior Night at the University of Louisville. The All-American and NBA hopeful took to Twitter Friday night to slam FedEx and to share his bad experience with others. Here's more on the story from WHAS 11:The framed jersey was shipping via FedEx to his New York barber shop, but when it arrived the glass and frame were cracked.FedEx told Smith to send the entire package back, jersey included. The shipping company admitted it was mistakenly thrown away and is lost. Erin Truxal with FedEx gave a statement about the possibility that the jersey was stolen when it arrived back in Louisville. “"We are working closely with security to further investigate this matter. The damaged merchandise was marked to discard since, for safety precautions, our employees are trained not to open packages with broken glass. We sincerely apologize to Mr. Smith for his recent experience. We are working directly with Mr. Smith on this matter,” the statement said. I want to personally thank Fed Ex for deliberately throwing away my National Championship Jersey & compensating it by saying "Sorry".— Russ Smith (@Russdiculous_2) May 9, 2014Words really can't explain how upset I am. Billion dollar company, they throw away something I worked hard in & they only say "sorry".— Russ Smith (@Russdiculous_2) May 10, 2014Like I said life isn't fair. Sometimes people n major corporations take for granted how much the little things mean and only say "sorry".— Russ Smith (@Russdiculous_2) May 10, 2014@FedEx you are incredible. I am getting on a flight from Vegas to Louisville to graduate tomorrow & you guys have ruined that for me.— Russ Smith (@Russdiculous_2) May 10, 2014@FedEx There will be plenty of problems if I don't have my jersey. Same stains, same rips, same odor, same everything. Can't duplicate that.— Russ Smith (@Russdiculous_2) May 10, 2014A local businessman and Cardinals supporter, Jonathan Blue, is offering a $3,000 reward (no questions asked) for the immediate return of the jersey to Blue's office located in downtown Louisville.I am offering immediate, no questions asked $3000 reward to person who returns Russ Smith's nat'l champ jersey to my office @Russdiculous_2— Jonathan Blue (@1CardsFan) May 10, 2014Here's top hoping Smith's lost jersey turns up.Via WHAS 11
