Duke didn’t win the ACC’s regular-season basketball championship this season, finishing a game behind Miami, Fla., who secured its first conference crown. It’s the Blue Devils, however, who are the -175 opening favorites at Bovada to win their fourth ACC Tournament title in the past five years.
The Blue Devils lead the way with 19 ACC Tournament titles overall and only four times have they come up empty: 2004 (Maryland), 2007 and ’08 (North Carolina) and last year (Florida State). Duke certainly would claim a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament with the ACC crown. They enter as the No. 2 seed and closed the regular season with an impressive win at home against Miami and on the road in the finale at archrival North Carolina.
Senior forward Ryan Kelly‘s presence back into the lineup has been enormous, and when he played this season the Blue Devils were unbeaten. The 6-foot-11 senior averages 14.6 points and 5.6 rebounds. He missed 13 games with a foot injury. Duke opens play in Greensbo...
BEST OF MAXIM
GREENSBORO, NC --- Duke didn't have energy Friday night. The Blue Devils said so themselves.
As a result, the No. 2 seed lost to No. 7 seed Maryland 83-74 in the quarterfinals of the 60th ACC Tournament, an event Duke had won in 10 of the previous 14 years.
"We just didn't come out with energy," Devils' sophomore point guard Quinn Cook said. "They came...
Despite massive evidence that they are undeserving, Duke basketball may be granted another questionable Number One seed when the NCAA Tournament field is announced Sunday.
Though semi-expected, a top spot in 2013 is remarkably baffling, considering these damning facts:
Duke did not win the regular season ACC title. (The conference is barely Top 5 in America; many would say...
If Duke is the best team in the country they sure didn’t look like it on Friday night.
Duke’s ACC Tournament run was short lived and not a very good sign of things to come.
The Blue Devils came out flat, stayed flat and showed little to no intensity in its 83-74 loss to Maryland that ends its bid for an ACC Title and leaves many wondering if this is a team that can even make...
Head coach Mike Krzyzewski said his Duke team was beaten by a very hungry and unafraid group from Maryland.
Duke's case for a No. 1 seed in next week's NCAA tournament seems to be rather solid, but a few victories in the ACC tournament could make a spot on the top line all but a given.
When the conference has held its annual March gathering in Greensboro, the No. 2 Blue Devils rarely do anything but win.
Second-seeded Duke looks to win a 10th straight ACC tournament game at the...
For Northwestern and Bill Carmody today conjures up images of breakup songs. Northwestern Athletic Director Jim Phillips met with the NU players this morning and will address the media at 5:30 tonight. (The announcement of the press conference was made about 25 minutes. Multiple sources are reporting Carmody is out.
Word is Duke Blue Devils assistant Chris Collins is the top choice...
Selection Sunday… Where will the ACC teams end up who will make it? Let’s take one last stab at it before Selection Sunday.
There is an interesting debate about Duke and Miami as 1 seeds below from the ACCDN.
In my ranking system, any RPI win top (100) win is a good win and any RPI top (50) obviously worth more. Any losses outside the RPI top (100) is considered a bad loss...
The ACC Tournament kicks off tomorrow, but do we need to have watched an entire season of basketball to know what's going to happen? Of course not! We can get it all from a couple of columns of numbers taken out to three significant figures. And then sit back Thursday night and bask in the fact that are rock-solid predictions are horribly, horribly wrong, because it's a single...
