Lead by their point guard Sterling Gibbs 20 points, the Pirates battled tooth and nail with the Golden Flashes who were paced by Kris Brewer's 28 points. The game had furious runs, with the Pirates having one to close out the first half, while the Golden Flashes owned the last three minutes of the game.  The difference maker for the Pirates this year is Sterling Gibbs. The New Jersey native and Texas transfer had a complete all-around performance, with 20 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
