Found March 18, 2013 on Orange Fizz:
Following Syracuse’s collapse against Louisville, encouragement was hard to find. Orange Nation lamented a lost opportunity and was still reeling after being blindsided by the Cardinals press Saturday night. But some of that optimism was restored with the release of the brackets, as SU will be the 4-seed against 13-seeded Montana to start off the NCAA Tournament. Montana won the Big Sky Conference (25-6) en route to its NCAA tournament appearance. The Orange was placed in the East region with Indiana (1), Miami (2) and Marquette (3). Tipoff against the Grizzlies is 9:57 P.M. Thursday night at HP Pavilion in San Jose. The Orange will have to prepare for the late start, but more importantly understand what went so wrong in the 2nd half Saturday. There were a few glaring issues that must be fixed quickly to advance in the tournament. Maintain tempo of game: SU could not get its offense going in the 2nd half partly due to the Pitino Press that the Cardinals executed to perfection. By t...

Carter-Williams key cog in Syracuse's NCAA engine

Not many teams stumbled into the postseason worse than Syracuse, which lost four of its last five regular-season games. Sophomore point guard Michael Carter-Williams, feeding off the energy of so many former Syracuse greats in the stands, helped turn the tide at Madison Square Garden in the Big East tournament. The Orange, on their way to the Atlantic Coast Conference in July,...

Video: Seth Davis Picks Montana Over Syracuse, Orange Fans Fire Back

Seth Davis manages to tick off a few fan bases around this time of the year – in 2013, it’s the Syracuse Orange supporters. Upon hearing that SU would face off against Big Sky champion Montana in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Davis immediately called the Grizzlies for the upset. That’s right, it was Davis, not noted Syracuse troll Doug Gottlieb who called the Orange...

Cardinal Sin: Huge Syracuse Lead Disappears Under Louisville’s Frantic Press

Being up by 15 points is never a bad thing. Except maybe for Syracuse. Just ask Jim Boeheim: “It was probably the worst thing to happen to get up 15. If we hadn’t played well and we were up four or five, they probably wouldn’t have done that, but that’s what they had to do at that point to go after it, and that was exactly what I would have tried to do, and that’s what...

FizzCast: Rising Syracuse QB Commit A.J. Long Wants to Win ACC in ’14

The next big thing for Syracuse football may be 2014 dual-threat quarterback AJ Long (Lebanon, TN), who committed late last week during the basketball team’s rout of Seton Hall in the Big East tournament. The hoops squad has given us a little more optimism, but Long’s commitment is another huge win from the weekend.   Long has been on Syracuse’s radar since May. He was the...

Keep On Dancing Syracuse Orange Mascot

Mascots have spirit. The Syracuse Orange has spirit that never stops.  To the Orange, it didn’t matter that its team blew a 13 point lead in the second half and ultimately lose the last Big East tournament ever by 17 points to the Louisville Cardinals.  It won’t stop dancing. While the Cardinals were on the court celebrating its second consecutive Big East championship, third...
