Two current non-BCS programs in the Lone Star State, TCU and SMU, both took important verbal commitments this week. The incoming talent is especially important for both programs, as the Horned Frogs jump into Big 12 play next year, eschewing the Big East, and SMU has designs on upgrading their conference in the future, and have been mentioned as a possibility in keeping the Big East afloat. Multiple reports are out that TCU has its third verbal commitment in the Class in 2012, in Hotchkiss School (CT) guard Clyde Smith, while SMU landed a true 7-footer, Blaise Mbargorba of The Peddie School (NJ). It shouldn’t be a huge surprise that Smith is headed to TCU, as he is actually a native of Texas that is playing prep school hoops in the Northeast. Smith will return to his home state for college, and will be a solid contributor to the future backcourt in the Big 12.
