Over the past year, the Rick Pitino vs. John Calipari feud has somewhat died down. Sure the rivalry is still as intense as ever, considering both teams have won national championships in the past two years. However, the “sneak-dissing” from Calipari and Pitino that we saw from 2009-2011 has stopped. After Kentucky eliminated Louisville from the Final Four in 2012, Rick Pitino took the classy route and said that he hoped Calipari and the Wildcats could bring the national title back to the Bluegrass State. When Louisville was on their title run this past season and Calipari’s team was bounced from the first round of the NIT, he seemed to be humbled.  Any time he was asked about Pitino’s 2013 team, he spoke glowingly about how good they were and about how tough it was for them to be the picked to win the entire thing and then actually doing it. Similar to what his team did in 2012. Don’t let all of this fool you. The hatred between Rick Pitino and John Calipari still exists and it is v...

He followed that up by explaining the new “Wildcat Code” that he has to keep his players focused on both academics...

Rick Pitino’s Top Five Recruiting Classes In His Louisville Tenure

This day in age recruiting classes are only ranked before the recruits actually step foot on campus. I understand the reasoning behind evaluating and ranking prospects prior to college, but I think it would be nice to see a ranking system for how the recruits actually produce at the next level. For example, Kentucky’s 2012 recruiting class probably didn’t deserve the overall...

Louisville’s Backcourt Is Loaded In 2014

Rick Pitino’s 2014 recruiting class is absolutely loaded at this point. Although the Louisville still will still target front-court players in 2014, they’re all set at the guard position. Louisville’s three current commitments are all ranked in the top 36 in the country. JaQuan Lyle (12), Quentin Snider (29), and Shaqquan Aaron (36). This is shaping up to be Rick Pitino’s...

Send to KindleWith realignment in full swing across the country, plenty of coaching staffs are preparing for unfamiliar foes that will appear on their schedules this fall. From getting his first tattoo, to owning a horse running in the Kentucky Derby, to big game fishing, the man has done it all this offseason. Capped off by his recent ESPY nomination, here’s a look at the bucket list...

Kentucky coach Calipari to drive pace car

The only thing threatening to keep Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari from driving the (fast) lane before Saturday night's NASCAR race was rain. Initially slated to ride shotgun as the honorary pace car driver for the 400-mile Sprint Cup Series race at Kentucky Speedway, Calipari was asked to drive the Ford Fusion leading the 43-car field to the green flag. Calipari agreed...
