Juan Fernandez scored 23 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as Temple’s men’s basketball team picked up a much-needed win at Rice, 77-70, on Monday night. The milestone and victory came one game after another senior guard, Ramone Moore, scored his 1,000th point – but that occurred in a 77-65 loss to Texas in which Temple held a second-half lead.

On an afternoon the football team rolled to its second bowl win in school history, the men’s basketball team let a second-half lead slip away in a 77-65 loss at Texas. Ramone Moore scored his 1.000th point in the contest, but it wasn’t enough as the Longhorns (9-2) pulled away from the Owls (6-3) down the stretch.
