It’s a wrap!

The Oregon State mens hoops team got off to a great start this season, but were only 7-11 in Pac 12 play.

However, they finished the season at 21-15 and lost to Washington State In the CBI semifinals.

While the Beavers were 4 games under in conference play they had a winning record overall and made a post-season tournament, which was a big improvement on the 2010-2011 season where they were 11-20.

Here are 5 things we learned about Oregon State hoops this season.

1. The Beavers could score the pill

While Oregon State struggled in conference play this season they were an exciting team to watch and this season they ranked 10th in the nation in scoring. 6 players for OSU averaged over 8 ppg led by star G Jared Cunningham (17.9 ppg).

2. The Beavers really struggled on D

While the Beavers could score they could not keep other teams from lighting up the scoreboard. Oregon State ranked 297th in the nation and dead last in the Pac 12 in opponents points allowed.

Will Cunningham be back to help lead the Beavers?

3. OSU did not give up when the chips were down

The Beavers could have given up a few times this season after some struggles, but they bounced back each time. They lost their first 2 Pac 12 games and then beat a Cal team that made the Big Dance.

After that game they lost 3 straight, including 2 tough ones in OT, but then they won their next 3 games.

After a 5 game conference losing streak they ended the season well winning their last 3 Pac 12 games and upsetting Washington in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney.

4. There are high hopes for next season

The Beavers gave their fans a lot to look forward to next season since the 3 players that scored in double figures are all returning. Rarely used C Kevin McShane was the only senior on the squad and Oregon State will be a very experienced team next season.

5. Jared Cunningham had a great season

Cunningham ranked 2nd in the Pac 12 in scoring this season and he was a breakout star that will be coming back next season.

He scored over 30 points 3 times this season and came up big in big games with 37 points in the early season OT win over Texas and 22 points and 27 points respectively in the first 2 games of the CBI Tournament.

Oregon State Big Wins this Season: Texas, Cal, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, and TCU.
