It was great ride this season with an horrific landing. Michigan State lost to the Louisville Cardinals last night, 57-44. The Spartans just were befuddled by the Cardinals defense all night, and suffered on the boards worse than many fans can remember. The pain and disappointment from the game is still fresh and stinging. A text came last night saying “at least your team won the Super Bowl”. I didn’t care for that. I am a spoiled child with my teams. Nothing but championships! Louisville was the better team last night, and was it an upset? I guess so, based on rankings and how both seasons played out. Monumental? No. But this troll thinks it is the biggest of Tom Izzo’s career.

But in reality, had you told me that this team would be in the Sweet 16 before the season began, I would have told you that you were smoking some really good stuff. Draymond Green led this team all year and he is one of my favorite Spartans of all-time. He is up there with Cleaves, MoPete, Neitzel and Travis Walton. I really hope he has great success in the NBA, but his Spartan career is legendary. What he and Tom Izzo did with this year with this team was simply remarkable.

I look forward to the return of Appling, Trice, Kearney, Nix and Payne. The arrival of Matt Costello and Gary Harris, and a healthy Branden Dawson when November rolls around next season. But right now, all I can think of saying is “when does football start?”
