Gotta hand it to him.  Saint Louis forward Dwayne Evans continues his march towards a potential Tournament MVP.  After a locked-in performance yesterday where he set the tone on his way to 25 and 9 (inc. 8-9 from the field and 9-9 from the stripe), he tallied 24 points and 11 boards in today’s win.   A vocal leader, Evans moves incredibly well without the ball in finding gaps and also does a great job exploiting angles to the bucket. And he’s an excellent defender with solid anticipation skills.  He’s not a household name nationally… but he may be in three weeks. All in a day’s rest.  As this one wore on, Butler wore down. For Butler, it was the third game in three days as opposed to the Billikens, which won fairly comfortably against Charlotte after having a bye and not playing Thursday.  Coach Brad Stevens sat both Rotnei Clarke and Alex Barlow for a five minute stretch middle way through the second half to conserve some energy, but it was the SLU bigs who ultimately wore down Butler’s interior crew.  From second chance points to one-and-dones on the other end, the Billikens controlled the glass.  Crews’ team also attempted 20 more free throws than the Bulldogs. So long… By all accounts from Brooklyn to Indianapolis, the Bulldogs are gone.  They’ll join Xavier and Creighton in the new Big East and begin play next season with new rivals like Marquette, Georgetown and Providence.  One Bulldog who won’t be around is Rotnei Clarke, who deserves a tip of the cap for his fierce competitiveness, prolific scoring and leadership.  Forward Andrew Smith, a core contributor, also graduates, as do Chase Stigall and Emerson Kampen.   A new wave of Bulldogs led by players like Kellen Dunham and Roosevelt Jones will lead this program through its new conference slate.
