Yup, I’ve been drinking a lot of the Jeremy Lamb Kool-Aid lately. This is just another explanation of why: “4. Jeremy Lamb, University of Connecticut – This will put me in the minority, I think, but I believe Lamb would be a fine selection at 4. It is easy to forget how good Richard Hamilton was, but Lamb really has his potential, with the frame to support more muscle than Rip ever did. He shoots midrange lights out, is a fine long distance shooter, can create a bit of his own offense but uses off-ball screens better than most his age. Without Lamb, there is absolutely no way UCONN would have won a national championship in 2011. He was able to feed off a shoot first point guard and get his own opportunities and make the most of them. I believe with Kyrie Irving, its a perfect fit.” [David Zavac/Fear The Sword]

Donuts are so hot right now. Wait a second. The Basketball Jones’ science wasn’t right??? Well, I’d bet this donut science has to be correct then: “4. Cleveland Cavaliers: Glazed Donut (Michael Kidd-Gilchrist) Finally. This is the pick. This is a very important pick. The glazed donut is a winner. It’s what you want from a donut. Simple and dependable. There was a great chance of it being picked earlier, but you lucked out, Cavs. Enjoy it.” [Danny Chau/Hardwood Paroxysm]

Harsh words from a guy who historically is very pro-administration with the Indians: “I understand that the Indians were caught in a tough spot as they did not want to put Hannahan on the disabled list and the indications from their medical staff was that he would be ready to go any day. But eventually when he hit his seventh or eighth straight game that he missed and he was still not feeling right, it may have been best to just put him on the disabled list retroactive to the last game he played.” [Tony Lastoria/SportsTimeOhio]

I really enjoyed this detailed MLB Draft big board to get to know some players a bit more: “In terms of what I look for, when it comes to hitters its power and bat speed, and a big bonus to any player who plays a hard to fill position as well. Those are the top three things I judge on, but any plus skill is going to earn points as well. With pitchers I like to see a guy who has three pitches and the ability to have one or more of those as plus pitches. Pen arms are severely downgraded, as is anyone with mechanics and consistency problems.” [Jeff Ellis/Indians Prospect Insider]

This is a really good review of a huge topic in college football lately: “Things are starting to get ugly in the debate over who should be included (or not included) in a four team playoff. The line in the sand has been drawn with the Big Ten, Pac-12, ACC and Big East on one side and the SEC and Big 12 on the other. The former (which we’ll dub The Delanys) believe all four should be conference champions and the latter (which we’ll call The Sabans) believe it should be the four best teams determined by polls or a selection committee.” [Jeff Beck/Eleven Warriors]

Here’s a seven-minute video and a nice summary of a neat interview with the RB monster known as Trent Richardson: “Favorite Part of Rookie Premiere Week? Getting to talk to the high school kids. His message to them was to never give up on their dreams. He feels that he runs angry in order to prove those wrong who said he wouldn’t make it. If he doesn’t run through or past somebody, then that’s not him.” [Chris Pokorny/Dawgs By Nature]

A fond farewell to my alma mater: “The Dayton Flyers are making an early exit from the NCAA Regional World Series. They lost their opener to the No. 1 seeded Texas A&M Aggies by a score of 4-1, and got a bit of bad luck by having a tough opponent in the losers bracket. The TCU Horned Frogs, who finished their season 36-20, absolutely dominated the Flyers from start to finish of their game. … Dayton added three more runs in the ninth but it wasn’t enough. The final score was 28-12 for TCU. They’re now eliminated – their season coming to an end with a 31-30 overall record.” [James Brady/SB Nation Cleveland]
