The Cardinal Connect:
Arguably the most beloved Louisville Cardinal of all time will be making a public appearance this weekend. Gorgui Dieng will be have a meet & greet autograph signing on Saturday at Prime Lounge in downtown Louisville at 101 W. Main Street. You can purchase pre-sale tickets to secure your spot in line before the general public.
I think we all pretty much knew that Gorgui wouldn’t be back next season, but this event is proof. Because he will be making money for selling his autograph that automatically means that Dieng is no longer eligible as an amateur athlete.
I’m still having trouble processing that Gorgs won’t player for Louisville, ever again…

The biggest question mark for Louisville fans this week has been the future of Russ Smith. Immediately following the national championship game, Smith’s father, Russ Sr., told Sports Illustrated that his son would forgo his senior season and enter the NBA Draft.
Just a few days later Russ came out and said that he hasn’t made up his mind just yet. The NCAA withdrawal deadline...
Great to have a University of Louisville fan as a wife with another birthday coming up.
The limited edition Louisville Slugger bats commemorating the UofL basketball team’s NCAA Championship are gone. Sold out, all 2,013 of them in less than four days.
Die hard fans can still obtain a similar bat, but they won’t include the limited edition number, the Cardinal head or UofL logos...
University of Louisville sophomore guard Kevin Ware has earned a lot of national attention since his horrific broken right leg against Duke in the Elite Eight game of the NCAA Tournament. Now, Ware is headed to the White House.
If you missed Wednesday’s edition of Inside The Press Box, here is the podcast. Click here to listen from your mobile device. On Wednesday’s show I talked a little more in depth about Russ Smith’s situation. It sounds like Louisville fans can relax for now. At least until April 28th. I also went down the roster and gave each player a letter grade on the 2012-13 season. Tune...
The uncertainty on whether Gorgui Dieng and Russ Smith will stay or go continues, with Gorgui said to be leaning toward leaving, Russ toward staying. They’ve both gone back and forth, at least in their public utterances.
Adding to the confusion is that they may not know themselves, each in an awkward position of getting a feel for their prospects in the NBA draft, which is scheduled...
Country music recording artist Jake Owen will be in concert tonight at the KFC Yum Center, along with Thomas Rhett and Jason Aldean. Mr. Owen wanted to do exactly what everyone from out of town wants to do when they arrive in Louisville. Check out all the great things going on at the University of Louisville.
Charlie Strong Tweeted out this picture earlier this afternoon. “Jake...
They wanted him.
As the Tennessee Volunteer football program continued to struggle to find its footing since the parting of ways with Phillip Fulmer, they thought they had the answer to their problems.
Charlie Strong was a guy who grew up in SEC Country. He went to college in SEC Country. He earned his coaching stripes in SEC Country. Surely he would jump at the chance to leave what...
When it comes to the starting quarterback position for the 2013 Louisville Cardinals, they’ll be no competition for the gig. Teddy Bridgewater, a preseason Heisman candidate has it in the bag. However for the first time in a few years, prior to spring practice, Louisville fans were uncertain who would be the back-up.
Now that spring camp is over, it appears that redshirt freshman...
It’s hard to argue that Dominique Brown wasn’t the most impressive player on the field at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Teddy Bridgewater and D’Vante Parker were both impressive as well, but Brown may have stood out more than anyone else. That is probably due to the fact that Louisville fans haven’t seen him since the 2011 season when he led the team...
1. Bigger story: Adam Scott victory or Woods penalty?
The Woods decision was handled so poorly it became the story. After deciding no issues occurred, the officials came back the next day after hearing Tiger’s post round interview. It was a calamity and will mar the great finish between Scott and Cabrera.
One masters per year, exclusive club, fancy...
University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong and his staff have been on a recruiting roll in recent days. The Cardinals have added five new commitments, bringing the total number of commitments in the Class of 2014 to seven. Cardinal Authority talked more in-depth with the two latest commitments:
