Yes, the Baylor Bears(7-0, 4-0) have an amazingly prolific offense and an impressive #6 ranking in the BCS standings. Their list of the teams they have defeated so far this season leaves much to be desired. That’s why Thursday night’s game again the Oklahoma Sooners(7-1, 4-1) is so important for the Bears not just in terms of the Big 12 title but for national respect as well. Last time the Sooners visited Waco  Robert Griffin III led the Bears to a, 45-28, victory and earned himself the Heisman Trophy in the process. Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty knows what lays ahead for his team and how important that win was. ”For me, personally, it was the moment that the program changed,” said Petty, the Big 12′s leading passer with 350 yards per game, 18 TDs and only one interception. ”I think that’s when we knew that we could play with anybody. It didn’t matter who it was. … It was one of our first games that there was a hype environment and we came through. It’s going to be a very exciting atmosphere kind of like 2011, so hopefully for the same result.” -from sports.yahoo.com Last season the Sooners returned the favor by beating the Bears in Norman, 42-34. The Bears haven’t lost to anyone since then. Oklahoma won’t be the Bears only test this month as they still have #25 Texas Tech and #14 Oklahoma St. to face the next two weeks. If national respect and a Big 12 title is what the Bears are after it is all there for the taking. Boasting the nation’s most prolific offense in terms of yardage and scoring the Sooners will have their work cut out for them. After dropping the Red River Shootout to the Texas Longhorns, 36-20, the Sooners have a chance to do what the Bears did to them two years ago, that is to end the Bears hopes of a Big 12 and national title. Baylor head coach Art Briles has turned the Bears into a team on the verge of gaining legitimacy as a national football power. That’s quite an incredible task and impressive feat to bring the Bears this far. Briles came to Baylor from the University of Houston so his Texas roots run deep. With a new AD in Austin and rumblings that Mack Brown’s days may be numbered as the head coach of the Longhorns Briles may be in line as their next head coach. With the Bears sitting as a 14.5 point favorite in their game with the Sooners I like the under dog to cover the number. The over/under is at 73.5 points. These two teams might roll up that much in three quarters. Take the Sooners and the points and the over in this battle for BIG 12 supremacy.
