Tomorrow night, college football fans will be treated to a spectacular matchup between two iconic programs, Alabama and Oklahoma, in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. For most of the season, Alabama was the class of college football, and many observers believed that the Crimson Tide would cruise its way to another national championship game appearance. Of course, the national title dreams got derailed for Alabama against Auburn, but that isn’t stopping Oklahoma from giving the Tide the utmost respect — Sooners coach Bob Stoops heaped praise on Nick Saban’s team this afternoon: Bob Stoops calls Alabama, “in my eyes, still the best team in the country.” — Marc Torrence (@marctorrence) January 1, 2014 Bob Stoops on Alabama: “I think anyone would say they are as good a team as we have played in 15 years.” — Cecil Hurt (@CecilHurt) January 1, 2014 Oklahoma is a pretty good team itself, racking up a 10-2 record this season, with the only two losses coming to talented Baylor and Texas teams. While the Sooners know they are facing a huge challenge, they aren’t embracing a true underdog mentality: Stoops on if they have an ‘us against the world’ mentality: “Not at Oklahoma. I don’t know how to do that.” — Marc Torrence (@marctorrence) January 1, 2014 The Sugar Bowl will air on ESPN at 8:30 EST tomorrow night — you won’t want to miss it.
