With spring football coming to an end, what are the key headlines to be aware of on the college fantasy football front?

Kansas State
News: QB Colin Klein shows that he actually can throw the ball.
CFG Analysis: Klein showed off an improved passing game with 475 yards and 6 touchdowns in the K-State spring game. He was a fantasy monster last year because of his legs, but could be down right scary this season if he can be effective through the air. Klein will likely be one of the first three QB’s taken on draft day in any format.

Texas A&M
News: QB Jameill Showers pulls away in spring game.
CFG Analysis: After this weekends spring game, it would appear that Showers has the inside track to be under center in Week 1. He threw for 203 yards and two scores and looked in control of the offense. Showers could be a nice value on draft day in Kevin Sumlin’s passing offense.

Oregon State
News: The wide receiver corps looks very good for the Beavers.
CFG Analysis: With Markus Wheaton entrenched as the clear #1 wide out, the spring game showed that the 2nd and 3rd options could be quite attractive as well. Obum Gwacham and Brandin Cooks capped off impressive springs with impressive showings. Keep an eye on which WR is tabbed as the #2, as he will have some value in BCS only leagues. The depth at wide out should only help QB Sean Mannion this fall.

Oregon
News: QB Marcus Mariota steals the show in Oregon spring game.
CFG Analysis: Mariota is in an intense battle with Bryan Bennett for the starting QB gig, and may have taken a slight lead with his spring game performance. He threw the ball well and looked even better on the ground, rushing for 99 yards and two scores including an 82-yard jaunt to the end zone. Whoever wins the job could certainly put up some gaudy numbers this fall.

Kansas
News: Sophomore RB Tony Pierson shows off speed in spring game.
CFG Analysis: Pierson has been all the rage for the Jayhawks this spring and capped it off with an outstanding spring game. He ran for 141 yards only seven carries, including an 88-yard scamper to pay dirt. There has not been any fantasy production from Kansas over the past few seasons, but that could change this year with Pierson. He is worth a shot in the later rounds of most drafts.

Oklahoma State
News:  True freshman Wes Lunt named starting QB for Oklahoma State.
CFG Analysis: Lunt hit the ground running and did enough to be named the starter this spring. He has tremendous upside playing in the wide-open Cowboys offense and could really do some damage this season. Keep an eye on which wide out he seems to prefer in fall camp. He is likely a #2 type fantasy QB just based on the system that he will be playing in.

Northern Illinois
News: QB Jordan Lynch could be poised for fantasy stardom.
CFG Analysis: Lynch did his best Chandler Harnish impression in the spring game, throwing for 402 yards and four scores. He is a true dual-threat quarterback and could be music to fantasy owners’ ears this season. The fantasy future looks bright for Lynch and owners should stand up and take notice.
