College football player stabs teammate during dorm room fight

A violent fight between two Albright College football players has left one in the hospital and the other in jail Monday morning.

Freshman Marquis Stewart was arrested earlier this morning after stabbing teammate Dhameer Madison three times in the rib cage with a with a corkscrew. Stewart, 18, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

The incident took place at 2 a.m. Monday morning, when Stewart initiated a physical confrontation with Madison inside a dorm room in Crowley Hall on the Albright College campus. Fellow students attempted to break up the fight, but the two football players were simply too strong to be subdued until police arrived.

At some point during the fight, Stewart used a corkscrew as a knife, and stabbed Madison three times in the left rib cage, a witness described to police.

Madison, who did not realize the extent on his injuries until after the fight ended, was taken to Reading Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Stewart is currently being held at Berks County prison on a $400,000 bail.
