There were many teams dissatisfied with their position in the polls. They felt they were ranked too high, so they promptly lost. South Carolina's slow start finally caught up with them in a home loss to Auburn. Nebraska went to Madison and found out why the Badgers are in the BCS championship discussion. Like the Gamecocks, Virginia Tech's lack of offense, caught up with them. Baylor was felled by Kansas State. Florida got rolled by Alabama, and lost starting quarterback John Brantley for the foreseable future. South Florida got manhandled by Pitt's running game. Texas A&M lost the lead and the game to Arkansas. And TCU lost to SMU. I think that's everyone. But we expect that, right? How many teams actually go undeafeated? More on that later. On to this week's poll.

1. LSU - Just another game against Kentucky. 155 total yards for the Wildcats. LSU hosts Florida this weekend, who may be without Brantley.

2. Boise State - Their strength of schedule takes another hit as TCU falls out of the top 25.

Stanford QB
Andrew Luck3. Stanford - Everyone expects the Cardinal to be great this year, but they seem to be under the radar as other teams - LSU, Bama, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin - are stealing headlines. They just beat UCLA by 26, their lowest margin of victory this year. Don't sleep on the Cardinal.

4. Oklahoma - The Sooners play Texas this weekend. And we'll find out why I'm leary of the Horns as a top 25 team.

5. Alabama - Made Florida's vaunted speed look quite pedestrian last weekend. Already looking down the road to a November 5th date with LSU in Tuscaloosa.

6. Wisconsin - The Badgers solidified their own national championship hopes by pushing aside Nebraska, who in fact might be their biggest competition in the Big Ten this season. They have Indiana next, after a bye.

7. Oregon - Did anyone else notice they put up 56 points on Arizona? At Arizona? Since the LSU game, they've scored no less than 56 points. Roll Duck. They play California this weekend.

8. Oklahoma State - Coming off a bye, they play Kansas next.

9. Clemson - Everyone in front of them and behind Oklahoma State lost. Seriously though, the Tigers have beaten three straight ranked opponents. They host Boston College this weekend.

10. Georgia Tech - The Yellow Jackets beat NC State worse than what the final score was. If they can fine tune the passing game, watch out. They host an up-and-down Maryland team this weekend.

11. South Carolina - The Gamecocks lackluster passing game jumped up and bit them. Garcia was an abysmal 9 of 23 for 160 yards. All of a sudden, there's a quarterback controversy in Columbia.

12. Michigan - See Clemson. They also posted a robust 58 points on conference foe Minnesota. Watch out for Northwestern this weekend with Persa back as quarterback.

13. Texas A&M - Didn't see the need to drop them too many spots, but we need to see some second half defense, please. They play at Texas Tech this weekend. Watch out Aggies . . .

14. Florida State - EJ Manuel should return this weekend against Wake Forest.

15. Texas Tech - Better effort against Kansas. Still putting up impressive scores, but it's a whole new world this weekend as Texas A&M comes to town.

16. Nebraska - I didn't think they would go undefeated by any means, but they looked lost against Wisconsin. Or are the Badgers that good?  They host the program formally known as Ohio State this weekend.

17 - Michigan State - Beat the program formally known as Ohio State in a thrilling 10-7 shootout. Now it's the Michigan game this weekend, then Wisconsin, then Nebraska. Great scheduling guys. Really.
18. Florida State - EJ Manuel should return this weekend as they host Wake Forest this weekend.

19. Baylor - RG3 throws an interception, and ESPN breaks into games to show it. OMG! He's human! What's even more outrageous is their 8 point drop in the AP poll after losing by one point on the road in conference. With games remaining against Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Texas, they could easily finish the season with four or five losses. Time to play big boy ball, Bears.

20.  Georgia - FIRE MARK RICHT!! The Dawgs are 3-2, and 2-1 in conference play. They travel to Tennessee this weekend.

21. Arkansas - A poll saving victory over Texas A&M last Saturday. They host Auburn this weekend. Better get that defense fixed, Hogs.

22. Virginia Tech - Yes, a big drop here, I admit. Since putting up 66 on App State, the Hokies have looked anything but explosive. 3 points against Clemson. 3 POINTS! If you're looking for a quarterback controversy, Blacksburg is a nice place to be right now.

23. West Virginia - Thumped Bowling Green 55-10. The Mountaineers host UConn this weekend. The run for the Big East starts here.

24. Arizona State - For now. They've beaten some good teams at home, but travel to Utah this weekend. "It's a trap!"

25. UNC - Handled ECU with relative ease. You could also say ECU was a gracious host. They host Louisville this weekend.

Fair Thee Wells:
TCU - Uh, not sure what happened here. I did expect SMU to have a good team this year, but TCU has looked as consistent as butter in direct sunlight. Need to see some improvement to get back in the poll.

South Florida - Well, that was fun. Pitt abused the Bulls for 307 rushing yards (523 total) and at least 10 points in every quarter. Not a good look, Bulls.

Utah - Oh, I had high hopes for the Utes. But alas, they're 0-2 in the PAC-10/12. They host Arizona State this weekend, and could just as easily be 0-3.

On The Bubble:
Auburn - Last time I spotted you a few bucks, you burned me. Need to see a little more, War Eagle.

Washington - Had a quality win at Utah this weekend. Their only loss so far is to Nebraska. They still have Oregon, Stanford, and USC to play, so there is some dice rolling here.

Kansas State - Solid wins over Miami and Baylor in consecutive weeks. Four out of their last five games finish like this: (Grab a tissue cause there's gonna be some cryin') Oklahoma, at Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, at Texas. They still have to play Missouri and Texas Tech.

Rank Rant:
Auburn goes from unranked to 15th. I expected a lot of turnover in this week's poll simply due to so many top teams losing, but going from unranked to 15th is a stretch, in my opinion.

I don't have Texas ranked. I think the younger McCoy is a better option at quarterback, but I think the Longhorns are just on a down cycle right now. They're 11th in the AP poll and have home games coming up with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in consecutive weeks. If the Horns really are good, now is the time to prove it.

I'm not as high as the national poll voters are on Illinois, and for good reason. The Illini are 5-0, but scheduled to FCS teams to cupcake up the schedule in the first two weeks. If they can win the next two, then they'll be practically bowl eligible, and will be in the discussion.
