The Duck Stops Here:
The Oregon Ducks are a 59-point favorite in their game tomorrow against the Nicholls Colonels, a 1:00 p.m. Pacific kickoff in Autzen Stadium. It's televised nationally on Fox Sports 1.
The outcome isn't much in doubt, but educated fans will be watching closely in several key areas: execution, substitution, penalties and turnovers.
Nicholls isn't the challenge here. Charlie Stubbs' team will give a good effort and earn their $450,000 guarantee behind new quarterback Beaux Hebert, the son of former New Orleans Saint qb Bobby, but they are outmanned as a FCS school that's gone 1-10 in each of the last two seasons, suffering a 77-3 defeat at Oregon State just last December.
Cool breeze, hot prospects: Marcus Mariota and the Ducks will be sharp and focused tomorrow against the Nicholls. The Flyin' Hawaiian isn't likely to keep the football more than a couple of times, but the Colonels are likely to have trouble catching him, or his teammates (Kevin Casey, G...
BEST OF MAXIM
The panel at Talkin' Ducks savaged Thomas Tyner yesterday.
They questioned his toughness and readiness for the PAC-12, saying he's been banged around and "isn't getting it done" at practice.
Quite a lot to put on an 18-year-old kid who's just weeks into an adjustment to a whole new level of football.
Touchdown Dash: Thomas Tyner ran over, around, through...
How do you replace a genius?
Everybody's weighing in on this, and the national talking heads are climbing over each other to declare that this thorny question is the reason Oregon regresses this year.
Opponents will begin to adjust and figure out the no-huddle, up-tempo Oregon spread, the meme goes, and Mark Helfrich won't have Chip Kelly's requisite brilliance to have...
I have to wonder just a little bit if there is a room or an adjacent complex in Oregon's swanky new football complex for the cheerleaders. Otherwise I can't figure out how the Ducks manage to get so many smoking cheerleaders year in and year out.
Apparently the ladies were hanging out at the lake recently and Busted Coverage got a hold of some pics of theses babes...
The Oregon Ducks are set to open their season at home against the Nicholls State Colonels, and the kindest way to describe this matchup is that it’s going to be a complete blowout.
The Colonels finished their 2012 campaign with a single win, which is the same amount of games the Ducks lost. This one’s going to be ugly, and it’s going to be beautiful for fans at...
We've have lost our bearings here at Gamedayr after finding out that the Oregon Ducks cheerleading squad brought their bikinis with them on their 2013 Triangle Lake retreat.
EUGENE, Ore. -- As expected, the Oregon Ducks rolled through the first half of its game with Nicholls State University and went into halftime leading 38-3. The Ducks were led in the first half by sophomore quarterback Marcus Mariota’s two rushing touchdowns and one touchdown pass. De’Anthony Thomas scored twice and rushed for 112 yards on seven carries.

Since it is the cusp of a new season and bloggers, pundits and fans are indulging in rampant, ecstatic speculation about their favorite college teams, it seemed appropriate that this column indulge in a little speculation, as well.
Suppose Oregon, in this 2013 campaign, ends up with a dream season, running undefeated through...
EUGENE, Ore. – Ho hum. It wasn’t a surprise that the Oregon Ducks disposed of Nicholls State University 66-3 on Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium in front of 57,769 fans. It also wasn’t too much of a surprise that two new school records were set and certainly wasn’t a surprise that a new NCAA rule would rear up and caused a player to be ejected.
Ducks dominated in the first half, scoring on every drive but that last one in taking a 38-3 lead. De'Anthony Thomas darted for 112 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns. Marcus Mariota missed on a few throws, 7-16 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown to Bralon Addison, 4 runs for 87 yards and two touchdowns, including a nifty 46-yard dash in the second quarter.
The 2013 edition of the Oregon Ducks are set to take the field, and they will do so to this baller stadium entrance video.
Unless you noticed the head coach on the sideline wasn't wearing a visor, things weren't much different offensively Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium where the No. 3 ranked Oregon Ducks stomped Nicholls State University 66-3.
Get ready for Marcus 2.0.
That's what Oregon coach Mark Helfrich looks to see from his sophomore quarterback, Marcus Mariota, as the No. 3 Ducks embark on the new season. It all starts Saturday when Oregon host Nicholls.
Last season at this point, Mariota was a redshirt freshman who had just been crowned Oregon's starter - beating out Bryan Bennett after a fall camp competition...
From goducks.com, a poster summing up Marcus Mariota's fabulous freshman season and Heisman Trophy credentials. Meanwhile, Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel has just been suspended by the NCAA. For a half. Against Rice.
Marcus Mariota threw a touchdown pass and ran for two additional scores and the No. 3 Oregon Ducks made easy work of lower-tier Nicholls with a 66-3 victory in the season opener on Saturday.
Mariota, who set an Oregon record with 38 touchdowns last season as a redshirt freshman, completed 12 of 21 passes for 234 yards before sitting after the third quarter when the Ducks had built...
National writers are inexplicably mesmerized by The Tree.
Scan the preseason magazines and college football websites, and everywhere there is inordinate love for the hyped-up throwbacks to the Woody Hayes era of the sport, the Stanford Cardinal, who lost two games last year and return a team bereft of offensive stars, relying heavily on a good but not great defense.
