UNTIL YESTERDAY, there was no record of any former Temple football player returing to his alma mater to become a full-time assistant coach. Adam DiMichele can now say he's the first. The former Owls quarterback joined Matt Rhule's staff a year ago as a graduate assistant working with offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield and was a big help with the development of true freshman QB P.J. Walker. He's been promoted to wide receivers coach. "[This] is well-deserved," Rhule said. "We have a phrase we use here: 'Temple-made, Temple-proud.' And Adam is just that. I had the pleasure of coaching him. He was a leader then and he brings that same quality and respect as a coach. He did a great job recruiting in western Pennsylvania, something we are committed to continuing." DiMichele, who played on North Broad from 2006-08, was a two-time captain and team MVP. Texas Two-loss

The Temple men’s basketball team put five players in double figures, including a career-high 11 points from Devontae Watson, but as usual it was the defense that was the culprit in an 88-74 loss at Houston on Sunday. Down by as many as 21 points, the Owls cut the deficit to five with just over eight minutes to play, but failed to pick up shooters and struggled in transition defense.
