When Johnny Manziel sent out an angry tweet last Sunday, voicing his displeasure with College Station because of an unknown incident, he received some backlash for his perceived whining. He then quickly sent out another tweet pleading with folks to be sympathetic to his situation.
Well, it turns out the situation that had Manziel so riled up was a measly parking ticket, according to a story via My San Antonio.
Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, had been fishing in Port Aransas on Saturday and was still on the coast when he talked over the phone to an officer, who wrote him a ticket for being parked the wrong way in front of his house and for his windows being tinted too dark (his vehicle was in College Station while he was with friends in Port Aransas), according to the insider. Manziel tweeted out his frustrations in dealing with the matter, quickly removed the post, followed with a tweet that he loved A&M but for people to please walk in a day in his shoes.
It also turns out that his magical season with the Aggies almost didn’t happen, as he was considering a move to junior college following a suspension by the university.
Manziel was arrested in the Northgate bar district last June for fighting, failing to identify himself and possessing two fake IDs, and as a result the university arbitrarily suspended him for the football season, according to multiple insiders.
Manziel was preparing to transfer to a junior college to play immediately when the suspension was overturned on appeal midway through training camp – and the next day he was named the starting quarterback over Jameill Showers, who intends to play at UTEP this fall.
Manziel is going to have to learn that people aren’t sympathetic to well-off whiners. While his issues may seem a big deal to him, folks in less fortunate situations will always see it differently whether if it’s fair or not.
BEST OF MAXIM
An unnamed general manager of an NFL team believes that Johnny Manziel will be a better quarterback than Andrew Luck, RG3 and Russell Wilson.
Let’s start this off by saying I am not all that concerned by what Johnny Manziel did or didn’t do during the spring and summer. Sure it probably wasn’t the best idea to go all over Twitter and claim he is ready to get out of College Station (who wouldn’t be, honestly?) and maybe he should be spending more time in the weight room and breaking down film from last year, but...
Wow, talk about a rough week for Johnny Football. A late night Tweet set the media world on fire about Manziel’s maturity, he’s 20 so get over it. Now it turns out that his likeness in Electronic Arts’ NCAA Football 2013 appears to be a 40-year-old man. One year at A&M has aged Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel drastically. Parking tickets suck — we’re pretty sure that most people agree on that one. That being said, you tend to know if you’re parking in a place that you aren’t supposed to, so you’re really just asking to receive one.
It turns out that Johnny Manziel hates parking tickets like the rest of us. Very early Sunday morning, he fired off an angry “Bull**** like tonight is why I...
What will Johnny Manziel look like in 20 years?
EA Sports' new "NCAA Football 14" video game may have the answer for you. The player on the game, known only as "QB 2" on the Texas A&M virtual roster, has similar abilities to Manziel, but the appearance of the video game quarterback has the look of a 40-year-old redshirt sophomore.
Technically, the Texas...

Johnny Manziel almost transferred from Texas A&M last summer. Oh what would never have been... Photo: USA Today Sports
In the world of sports we always ask at times questions that begin with the words "What if?" What if Alabama had held on to beat Cam Newton and Auburn? What if Ohio State were eligible for postseason play last season? What if Penn State joined the...
Texas A&M has an SEC-sized recruiting class, a returning Heisman winner at QB, and enough alumni money coming in to expand Kyle Field until it's the third biggest city in the state, but all is still not well in Aggieland this week. The Aggie's rough stretch began this Sunday, when Johnny Manziel set off a social media ********* with this late night tweet:
Have you ever been stuck looking for a great gift for someone special? If so, we now have a fantastic idea for you — a signed photo of yourself. At least, that’s the recommendation from Johnny Manziel.
Last season, Kliff Kingsbury was the offensive coordinator for Texas A&M when Manziel won the Heisman and the Aggies had great success in the SEC. In fact, the offense was...
