(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By GREG BEACHAM AP Sports Writer The UCLA Bruins have emerged from an emotional week after receiver Nick Pasquale's death, and they're determined to make the remaining weeks of their season count. Just one day after the 13th-ranked Bruins scored 38 straight points in a remarkable win at Nebraska, they all attended a memorial service for Pasquale in his Orange County hometown last weekend. UCLA (2-0) is now focused on seizing its opportunity for a remarkable season, starting Saturday against New Mexico State. Bruins coach Jim Mora wants his players to work on simple tasks while preparing for a team that hasn't had a winning season in 11 years. UCLA's schedule gets tougher in October, and Mora seems room for improvement. But the Bruins will keep Pasquale in their thoughts all season, quarterback Brett Hundley says.

Myles Jack, Jim Mora come full circle at UCLA

Long before Jim Mora became a college football coach, he wanted to recruit Myles Jack. Mora first met Jack in Seattle when his son Ryder was playing youth football with Jack's younger brother Jahlen. Mora knew he had a player on his hands. "I remember when they showed up from Georgia and Myles showed up to practice up at this place called Wilburton, he had on his shower...

UCLA's Goodman explains tweet regarding playing time

UCLA freshman safety Tahaan Goodman is learning the lesson that all freshmen not named Johnny Manziel typically learn when they hit the college level: He's not the best player on the field anymore. Goodman, an prep All-American out of Rancho Cucamonga High, was used to being one of the fastest, most physical and most skilled players each time he took the field. But that was...

Bruins look to avoid 'hangover' vs. lowly NM State

This week's test might be the complete opposite scenario from the one UCLA faced last week. After a dominating 41-21 victory on the road against Nebraska, the Bruins moved up to No. 13 in the polls, the highest ranking since November of 2007. But instead of facing a historical powerhouse in front of front of nearly 100,000 people, UCLA (2-0) will face a team that has not made...

New Mexico St.-UCLA Preview

After overcoming plenty of adversity to remain undefeated, UCLA shouldn't have any issues staying that way in its final tuneup before beginning Pac-12 play. Six days after receiver Nick Pasquale was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while walking...
