Crystal Ball Run:
While it doesn’t necessarily impact what we do here at Crystal Ball Run, a long-held rumor was confirmed this morning by ESPN.com’s Brett McMurphy: Notre Dame is headed to the ACC!!! Well, not in football, per se, where they’ll remain independent. But in all other sports… Notre Dame is headed for Tobacco Road!! Can you feel the excitement?
We thought so. This is straight from McMurphy’s Twitter feed:
Notre Dame will join ACC as full member w/exception of football. ND will play 5 football games annually vs. ACC, sources told @espn

According to the McMurphy, the school will leave the Big East after their 27-month contractual obligation finishes, putting them in the ACC no later than the fall of 2015. Quotes from Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame's Vice President and Director of Athletics:
Pseudo-independence. Notre Dame has officially become the Kosovo of college football. I’m not just talking in a depressive state of internal war either. Reports from the Chicago Tribune have the Irish dumping their long standing agreement with the Big East to join forces with the ACC. While football will remain independent (for now), they have [...]
The Big Ten always sounded good in theory. And there was a time and place where if the University of Notre Dame were to join a conference it would have been the Big Ten.That time has come and gone. A long time ago. When the Big East slowly began to disintegrate as a major conference, the ACC was the only really option for Notre Dame. It was also the best one.The Big 12 made overtures...
