1. Oregon (9-0) Scored 62 on USC on the road. Ducks unstoppable on offense against PAC-12, but USC exposes their defense as vulnerable. Could that offense score at will on Alabama? If Ducks win out and K-State stumbles, we may find out. How fun would a K-State/Duck bowl game be to watch?2. Oregon State (7-1) Great bounce-back win over quality ASU team after hiccup at Washington. If they survive Stanford and Cal, the Civil war this year will be the PAC-12’s game of the year. OSU headed for a BCS bowl? Bring on Notre Dame!3. Stanford (7-2) Kevin Hogan starts in place of Nunes, throws for 222 yards and leads Cardinal to a 48-0 blow-out of Colorado. Next up; OSU, UO and UCLA – very tough schedule to end the season. A nine-win season on the Farm would be huge.4. UCLA (7-2) On a day when USC hangs 51 on Oregon, UCLA one-ups them by hanging 66 on Arizona. Thought the only UCLA team that’d ever score 66 was the basketball team. Did they steal those uniforms from Meadowdale? Hard to believe Mora has this crew at 7-2 in year one. The Battle of Los Angeles could be for a BCS bowl for the Bruins. Wazzu, USC, Stanford coming up. How many points can they hang on Wazzu?5. USC (6-3) The good news; they scored 51 on Oregon. The bad news; they gave up 62.  Damn.  And with ASU, UCLA and Notre Dame still to come, Trojans could be headed for a five-loss season. So, who do they start speculating is the next USC head coach? How about ‘Bama’s Nussmeier?  Plenty of talent here, just not enough quality wins.6. Arizona (5-4)Blow out by UCLA by puts their bowl game plans on hold for now. Can they bounce back? We knew they issues on defense, but 10 points on offense?  Hmmm. They get Colorado and Utah before Arizona State. They need 7 wins for a chance at a bowl.7. Washington (5-4) Ugliest PAC-12 game of the year. Mistakes, costly turnovers, general ineptness. UW cannot get out of their own way. What is wrong with Price? On third-and-two he rolls out and won’t even try to run for it? With Sankey having a career day and Price struggling, why throw it inside the red zone? On third and two? When the run works and you have a shaky QB – just stay with the run, Sark. You can’t get call clever plays if you do not have the personnel to pull it off. Sankey has been a huge surprise. The defense gave up 450 yards. To Cal. Nice road win, 8-4 is still very possible, but at some point, you want to see quality, fundamental football. Enough Jekyll and Hyde. It’s painful to watch.8. Arizona State (5-4) Another tough road loss, but OSU simply better team. WSU coming up, pencil in a W. USC and Arizona after that – bowl game hangs in the balance. ASU is slipping in the rankings, but still playing quality football.9. Utah (4-5) Destroyed a Wazzu team posing a PAC-12 football team. Utah is tough to figure out – they play tough and fundamental and are great at home, but their record doesn’t reflect it. I still think adding them to the PAC-10 was a mistake. They’ll be bottom feeders for years.10. Cal (3-7) Cal is all about balance – the receivers made miracle catches and backs made crucial fumbles. See how it all balances out? This team is sinking like the Titanic. Have they given up or are they just getting outshined? Either way, Tedford probably can’t last much longer. The problem is who can they bring in? Cal won’t spend $$$ on a big-name hire.11. Washington State (2-7) Wow. One thing’s for sure – Leach is gonna push these guys to see what they’re made of.  Not a lot of talent across the board, but enough to prevent a 49-6 loss to Utah. Next season will be the tell-all for Leach – if they get recruits and make progress, they are right on track. Baby steps. Gonna be a fun week of practice. UCLA, ASU, Washington. Damn, 2-10 in Leach’s first season. No worries, basketball season starting. Oh, Cougs picked last in that, too. 12. Colorado (1-8) It’s hard to imagine Embree survives this season. It’s time for CU to stop hiring feel-good alumni stories and start hiring football minds. Where’s the talent? Where’s the scheming? Where’s the help-wanted section? Buff’s on life support until a new administration comes in and they start over. Again. Didn’t this used to be a prideful football school?
