Aaron Rogers, Drew Brees, Eli Manning -- pick your choice for position of top quarterback in the game of football and use him as an example for the premier play call, command, and poise a signal caller can posses. Rutgers’ Gary Nova showed that same playmaking acumen when he engineered a firestorm of points against the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday night. Long overdue, Rutgers’ football is starting to garner the much-deserved national spotlight.

Through the first three games, the Scarlet Knights showed they had a top-tier defense coupled with just enough offense to manufacture sufficient points for victory. That all changed when they went to SEC country (Fayetteville) and Nova put on a cognoscente’s display of quarterbacking.

Nova was dazzling, posting a career-high 397 yards for five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He completed 25 of 35 passes, distributing his five touchdowns to four different receivers. With short, intermediate, and deep completions, Nova was able to find his wideouts in stride and let them take care of the rest.
